Well, now that deer season is over the boys have switched over to hogs (not that they won't stick a hog when deer hunting).

My two boys pictured are 13 years old and 25 years old. The 13 year old really looks up to his big brother and enjoys being with him as much as possible, which is not often since big brother is in the Army. He will be going over to Afghanistan for a second deployment in April so we hope to get some more hunts in before he goes.

They got these hogs one evening in Gregg County along the Sabine River in the bottoms. We always bow hunt deer and usually hogs, but this night they used their AR-15's and had a great time with them. We use .223 AR's with Trijicon red dot sights on one and iron sights on the other. A .223 in the ear hole puts them done quite nicely.

Can you tell from the smiles that they had a good time?!

Dad had to show the boys how to do it tonight. I was bow hunting by myself this afternoon when this sow and her extended family came in. I had never shot a hog this color before. I thought she looked pretty so I killed her.

Shot her from 20 yards out of a tree stand. Used my Mathews Z7 Extreme Tactical, Easton Axis arrow, and G5 Montec 100 grain broadhead. She went about 30 yards and gave out her final squeal.

I cut the backstraps out and was done and in the truck in no time. She was the perfect eating size.
