Don't know, but in researching what rifle and round to get for my kiddo the 243 always was talked about.

357 kicks a lot less than a 243, more like a 223 if that much. Plus for practice you can use 38special.

RWH, you think the rifle manufactures will ever make a youth rifle in any of the last 4 you listed. 3 of those I enjoy for low recoil hunting myself. I know you can use an adjustable stock and get an ar to work for kids but, that is about it for the 6.5 and 6.8

Levers the 357 or 45LC would do any job needed at 50yds.
Just have to cut a stock and put a Limbsaver.

An AR with a collapsible stock and a 6.5 or 6.8 would grow with the person

yes I was just thinking would be nice to see one available for kids without the modifications. You can get a boltaction with 2 stocks from Savage, how hard would that be for Marlin to do.

I am thinking about a build on a CZ527 chambered in 6.5, should make a nice light weight hunting rifle and who knows it might get a second stock cut down stock and go to the great nephew

I always thought a 6x45mm aka 6mm-223 is about the perfect young daughter hunting caliber.

It's just a .223 necked up to 6mm. I don't know if anyone offers a factory rifle in this, but lots of rifle smiths would chamber you a barrel for it. Not sure what it'd cost. Cor-Bon offers four different factory loads including a 80 gr. Barnes TTSX that should put a smack down on a deer. Also some nice varmint loads avsailable. If you hand load or have a friend who does, the cost of ammo could come way on down. Sent you a PM with some additional info about it.

Chad from DallasReloads.com posts a lot over in the Ammunition and Reloading section on here and he would load you up some really nice ammo. Might find her a used bolt gun on gunbroker or somewhere like that. Another option is some reduced recoil loads for some of the larger cartridges - most of the popular common calibers have a reduced recoil load available.
