Put a predator wire around the bottom of your HF all the way around.

Yes. I have seen hot wire and also a piece of net wire tied to bottom of fence and then buried also. Gets costly but look at what you have lost as far as income.

You can figure on a trapper snaring the fencelines or leg hold traps inside catching an average of one a day for the next year or more in some of the counties in South Texas.

If your serious about raising animals and have the money you need to have a good fence all the way around the property. Flying can be effective but its. You can put hotwire on the ground but most of the time adjoining landowners say no and it’s a lot of work to keep them up. You can put a role of wire on the ground but your also going to trap them in the pasture that you wont get out. Calling will work for awhile but not long. Throw the snares away and buy duke 330 body traps. http://www.duketraps.com/4body/bodytrap.html Work the digs and you will get the coyotes and the bobcats. Bobcats are a bigger problem and there are more of them around then most people realize. You also might consider buying some young oryx while you can. We feel like they keep the coyotes away. I has numerous high and low fence ranches that I work with. You need a good fence and then start working the big digs with these traps.

You can also call your county and they can send trappers out. It doesnt cost you anything. The set up snares and M44 cyanide cans.

X2 on body or conibear traps if you can learn to set them safely. Most South Texas counties do not have a trapper anymore and if they do they are over-loaded with what they have. Must have livestock on the ranch to get them to help in most South Texas counties. Oryx does not work. Have heard the same about Red Deer and Elk but had Oryx, Red Deer and Axis in the same pasture and coyotes had a field day in it.

The oryx work. I have low and high fence places with them and it helped them a lot. But they have 6-8 head per every 250-400 acre pasture. PM me your email and I will email you pictures and instructions on how to set up the traps. They need to be dunked in water like a tank for a week or two. Then let them sit out and rust for a week or so. Then you need to bend the triggers.

I had 45 hd of Oryx and 50 hd of Red Deer in a 500 acre pasture with a whole lot of axis and the coyotes had a field day in that pasture. I have a friend in McCulloch County that is always loosing BB to bobcats.

Female zebras can be very over protective of any young newborn animal. They have a real mothering instinct and I have heard that they will fight the birth mother off of the young and then stand over it and guard it till it dies when you get one this is really bad about it.

I have found here also that coyotes are hard on axis. They are also hard on young Ibex. Have to keep my nannies in a 10 acre trap when they are kidding. Then had to put hot wires on the net wire fence cause the coyotes would crawl through it about 18" up where the wires were farther apart. Now I have one hot wire about 6" from the ground and another at about 15". Hot wires are a PITA especially in a good year keeping the grass and weeds off of it. After the Ibex are about a year old the coyotes seem to leave them alone. But about a month ago I saw one of them that had a shredded ear. i guess a coyote was going for his neck and caught a hold of his ear instead. I have about 15 or so snares around the perimeter of the place and I catch about 1 coyote a month and about the same porcupines and pigs.

There is a Vet in North Texas that supposedly did a huge WT buck that way...never heard if it worked or not though.
