The Blackout comes into it own when used with heavy bullets and a suppressor. It's an excellent choice for a quiet hog hunter. When using bullets in the 110 to 135 grain range in my opinion it is a little anemic in the power catagory. Will it kill? Yes, it is a high powered rifle but there are simply better choices. Power is near the 30 Caliber Carbine ctg and provides very low recoil.

Will it kill? Yes, it is a high powered rifle but there are simply better choices. Power is near the 30 Caliber Carbine ctg and provides very low recoil. You make it sound weak. It has as much energy from a 16 inch barrel as 5.56mm does from a 24 inch barrel - making it a significant upgrade in power over 5.56mm, yet still has 30 round capacity in normal magazines. 300 BLK has as much energy at 190 yards as the 30 Carbine at the muzzle. It is far more powerful. The bullets expand to 0.60 caliber at 300 yards, even from a 9 inch barrel. They will do this to a farther range from a 16 inch barrel. And the practice ammo is cheaper than other alternative cartridges. $11.06 per box: http://www.richiespng.com/product.php?item=136515

RSilvers- do you sleep? I am impressed that you can effectively participate in so many forums. Be nice now- 300BLK is a good caliber- fill in the blanks like a good salesman would..

how would it measure up against the 6.8 spec II or the 7.62/39 uppers, i hear the/39 uppers jam like crazy , also that the blackout will use starndard 5.56 magzines of the 3 whats a recomendation for hogs, deer out to about 200 yards

So far, mine is a pig killing machine. As a bonus, it shoots well under 1 MOA at 100 yards. Just switch the barrel and go..well, you do have to have a gas block that will fit the new barrel...
I wanted a round with similar power/range to SKS/AK/30-30 but without the lack of accuracy of the AK/SKS and feed limitations of 30-30 AND wanted it in semi-auto. (As a reference, I also own Rem700 in .223, Win100 in .308, SKSs and 30-30's) Most of my shooting takes place between 40 and 200 yards. It meets these expectations well!
I'm experimenting with 110 grain Hornady SP, V-Max and Barnes TTSX, 125 grain Nosler BT and 130 grain Barnes TTSX - don't care about subs right now.
The 300BO must be pretty popular as there is not a single barrel available ANYWHERE right now. My second CMMG barrel has been back-ordered since Jan 9 and isn't expected to ship until mid March - directly from CMMG.
Of the 5 people who have shot mine, two are also waiting for back-ordered barrels....
In summary, for what I do with it, it is the shiznit!

Boonee on here has gotten me interested in the 300BLK. He has a bunch of experience with several calibers and he is taking his 300BLK to the stand now to shoot- There has been a vast amount of communication about the 300BLK on the 6.8Forum. I think that if you keep your shots under 200 yards the 300BLK really shines with the larger bullets thrown downfield. My fascination is with the subsonic possibilities- right now I can't find a 300BLK barrel anywhere so there is either a ton of demand for it or a very limited supply of barrels available. For me it will be another interesting project based on the AR platform. A specific tool for a specific task.

I have a 300BLK and love it. I bought a AAC Upper 16in from Dixie Ammo Dump out of Georgia, great customer service and I didn't have to pay tax since it was a out of state purchase. Paid around $900.00
