We put out a hog trap this year and have not had any luck with it yet. It has a gulitine type door with a wire trigger at the other end. We bait & set the trap when we get there, and have had nothing even touch it.
What am i doing wrong?

Sounds like you have some hogs around that are "trap smart". I built the trap on here like someone described and it worked beautifully! Used 4ft hog panels shaped in a number 9 design. Fed it hard while it was held open for about two weeks then set the panel for trapping then had the whole pack caught the next time I checked it in two days!!!!!

Worked like a charm....

this is what I built and it works beautiful. The one built like a B shape is effective also...... the number 9 look trap works awesome too like I just built.

Good luck.

What did you use for bait, ive trap hogs for years and always used corn soaked in diesel and it worked great until about 6 months ago. I couldnt catch a hog and know they were close, I put a bag of hog wild in one trap and some stock pellets that got wet in the other. The next morning had 10 in the hog wild trap and 3 in the other. And these traps had been baited for over 2 months with corn and diesel and hadnt caught any.

Heart-shaped or Wexford trap

This is the kind of trap I hve set up. I did ok with it last yer but so fr have had it set this year for a couple of weeks and havent caught anything. Have been thinking of trying another style of trp. I know pigs are in the area, they just arent messing with my trap.

Pigs love it!!!!

Try corral type trap if possible, I have much more luck with them around trap wise hog. Make it as big as you can it makes them more comfortable.

I built this 30' trap with a 3x5 drop door

I just set it up and I'll bait it for a week or so then go collect. I have a few ready to try it out for me.
