I have a skunk that keeps going under my house in the middle of the night. I don't want to disturb him while he is under there. Has anyone ever had a skunk come to a call? If so, what was the sound. Any other helpful tips would be greatly appreciated. I don't want to mess with live traps.

I call them all the time with bird sounds. Not on purpose. Try a chicken in distress real low volume.

Yes. Bird sounds as stated above, the last one I called came out of a brush pile walked up to my foxpro hanging from a tree and stared at it for a few seconds. Quail distress was the sound, I think.

X3 on scent bait over sound. Head shot with a .22 stinger - lights out and no spray...

Thanks for the replies. I think I'm going to try the bait em in tactic. At least that sounds more fun.

Bird sounds work well. Just remember they don't like white light and will run from it so use a red or green filter

Im not sure about the head shot. I had a trophy skunk(lol) in a trap in sterling city I wanted to mount he was beautiful. I got about 20' from him and shot him right between the eyes with a 22 and at first I didn't think he sprayed so I was excited. But as I walked up there it hit me like a train and it was so Damn strong I almost threw up...lol I was pissed. Biggest prettiest skunk I had ever seen.

Tuna will work, but will also attract every house cat in the area. Rotten egg and/or cheese will be a good option also.

I know you said you didnt want to mess with live trap, but if you dont want it to spray that is the way to go. Just cover the trap with a tarp as long as it cant see you it wont spray. Ive done it several times, even hauled them in the truck down the road without them spraying.

Navasota, that might be the answer to neighbors dogs getting on my place.

Put out a little cat/dog food in the backyard. He will eventually find it and start coming out every night searching for his treat. If you have coons, you will get to also go coon hunting.

Well, last night I put out 1 can of tuna and 1 can of sardines. Tore about a 1" hole in the top of each can to make it harder to empty the contents. I placed them in view of my window so I could shine my red light out side. I checked it about every 20 minutes or so until I had to get to sleep. No takers... Next morning both damn cans were GONE. I do see neighbor dogs come through the pasture every now and then. The closest neighbor is about a half mile away. It was still dark when I left this morning for work so I'll investigate further when I get home. I bought 5 cans of each so I have some more chances to get this right. I am going to have a can in front of my game came tonight.

Set the live trap and tie about 200 yards of rope to it. Park the truck 100 yards away and tie the other end of the rope to that. When he goes in the trap, get in the truck and stomp it! Take out the slack and drive until the rope breaks!

Tuna works we were over ran with them at our lake house at P.K. and that worked, but only at night. We couldn't get them boggers out in the day light.. We just put the cans out by some pole lights.

After 3 cans of tuna and 2 cans of sardines, he finally met his demise last night. #4 buckshot put him down hard. He didn't even spray.

#4 buck, I guess making a hat out of him is a moot question.
