Well I have been offered 3 different rifles within the past couple of day. Now now question is out of the 3 which one is worth the money all of them are in great shape.
1. Savage model 111 .270 very nice with trigger job and a bushnell banner scope 3x9-40
2. Remington 788 .270 nice woodstock with a leupold scope very nice looking and in very good shape
3. Winchestor model 70. 7mm wsm it has a trigger job and a bushnell scope not sure on make but think its too much gun for whitetail and the occasional hog.

All these guns are under the $350 range and most uses will be in long senderos in south texas no more than 250 yard shots at most

I'd prefer the M70 RIFLE, but as you say, it's more cartridge than you need, plus ammo is hard to find and expensive if you are not a handloader.

Are you sure the Remington is a 788? The 788 has a short action and I don't believe 270-30/06 length cartridges would fit.

For $350, it would be hard to go wrong with any of them.

Rem 788 was not made in .270. May be a Rem 798.

1 or 2, I'm not a mod 70 fan or a 7WSM fan. Ammo is not easy to find. Can't go wrong with any of them at that price though

Like number 3 but ammo will cost you a arm and leg. Get the second rifle you'll need cheap ammo when gas goes up to $5.00 gal.
