285 Long days until season opens up again.
250 for us bowhunters.

I am trying to find ways to spend all of my free time! I guess I will take up fishing for the time being and maybe a little hog hunting here and there.

Hogs, predators, fish and turkeys are how i pass the time between now and than. I like to practice on the hogs with my bow when its still cold like this.

Have you every tried trout fishing? Google TPWD Trout stocking schedule for a pond near you. The fish are small but easy to catch. I've got all the hunting shows tivoed but thats just more torture. I also do a little shed hunting about mid-march. I keep my feeders going year round and that's where I start looking. Game cameras are also something to look at.

did't cost me a thing, i painted small guide shack for my outfitter and he is letting me kill a full blooded moulflon in exchange.

i have not hunted for sheep excluivly, i always ended up taking a deer instead. this time its either a mouflon or auodad only

Hey, don't be depressed. Now is the time to start getting ready for next years hunts. Repairing blinds, working on feeders, knocking down brush, clearing cedars, etc.

I know...Sept just seems so far away. I forgot to mention, that I am a huge BASS junkie in the springtime. So, I am getting ready for a few tournaments around me. I also like to do a little bow fishing (once it warms up). I am thinking about trying to book an exotic hunt. If anyone knows of a cheap hunt, let me know. I would like to shoot an axis doe, blackbuck doe, or something similar. I can not afford a trophy hunt but I would LOVE to go on a doe/management exotic bow hunt.

Exactly! Do it now before it gets too hot.

make sure if your clearing walkways and roads for next year you clear about 2 feet extra, last year we cleared the road at our place so we could get the trucks back without scratchin them all up, come september everything was back and bigger than when we cut

Only problem with that is, you have to travel all the way to the Guadalupe!

Numerous cities stock ponds and creeks with trout.

TPWD used to stock Bonham State Park for one....that's funny...put fish in the lake that can only possibly live a few months...what's that cost? How about not doing it, and cutting the price of licenses???

Speaking of Trout,

My friends son caught a Rainbow trout on Lake Georgetown, pretty big too. The funny thing is that the lake has never been stocked. Anyhow he has the record for the lake and probably will forever.

DEPRESSED? ??????? How can you be depressed! I can't remember the last day it got above freezing. Around zero every frickin' morning the last 2 weeks. Had a 12-pack on the porch and everyone of the mothers froze and blew up. I'd give 50 bucks just to sit in a lawn chair in your back yard. If I saw a gal in a pair of shorts, I think I'd have a heart attack. You could have it worse!

OK, Well we do not have it that bad here. It is cold but is above freezing. I am just so anxious about next deer season. I finally found a hog/exotic hunt to go on. My attention should turn to that now. Also, the fishing reports for whites on the river sure are starting to look good and the black bass spawn is just around the corner as well...Oh crap, this is a hunting forum. Turkey season is around the corner....I can not find time to do everything that I want to!!!!
