Picked up a nice model 92 lever gun in 357/38 today from a board member. I find it doesnt like most of my hollow point or lead nose 357 or 38spcl ammo. It wont feed well, but does great with FMJ. What ammo are you guys using?

I've used pretty much nothing but Winchester 125 gr semi jacketed hollow points and killed more stuff with my Rossi than probably all my other guns combined. About 3 weeks ago I shot a Cosdican ewe running at 190 yards (range finder). It took two shots I held a tad too high on the first one. The other ammo I've used is some +P+ 38 special stuff I had issued to me years ago. It's Winchester semi jacketed also, but I don't remember what gain bullet it was.

I just found out that Hornady is now loading their LeveRevolution in 357 and 44 magnums. It should be interesting to see how this performs in leverguns chambered for them.

Good Luck and Good Hunting.

Thanks guys. I tried 110 grain winchester sjhp and it wont feed. Maybe the 125s are just long enough to feed better. I am looking for something that works in my lever gun and my Ruger Blackhawk. The leverevolution amm is real intriguing! I love it in my Marlin 444.

Remington's SJHP tend to have a rounder nose then most other HP's. Win Silvertips in 357 are fairly rounded too.
If you can get to it, you might try cleaning the feed ramp and polishing it w/fine/xtra fine crocus cloth.

I think I might be able to get in there with my dremel, so I may try to polish that feed ramp.

A Cotton Wheel with Jewelers Rouge will help....Use Flitz or JB Bore Paste/compound on the felt/cotton wheel.
