Most of you probably know this, but our ol' buddy Kinky Friedman is vehemently anti-hunting. This is one of several scathing pieces I've read regarding his feelings toward hunters. Don't let the hat, stogie and aw' shucks facade fool you.....and keep it in mind when he launches another hopefully failed attempt at running for office....though this time he'll have the $$ backing of the DNC.

I don't even know who he is. What office does he hold?

He doesn't hold any office....and never has as far as I know. But he ran as an independent for Governor of Texas last election, but has since joined the Democratic Party. He's a folksy, seemingly down-home writer, author, philosopher-type from the Hill Country who always wears a cowboy hat and has a stogie in his mouth, but is now apparently interested in getting into politics.

No way would I vote for that dumb f.... Hunting is a Texas tradition, as much as any state, if not more.

Sounds like he changed his tune but, who knows what he really thinks.

I don't buy it. Interesting how entering politics can force one to be on the proverbial fence. I remember thinking of how his anti-hunting views were going to hurt him when I heard he was running for Gov. BTW....Perry's accusations were not desperate, merely factual based on Kinky's own words and admissions.

I guess you could square the circle by saying he hates hunting and hunters but doesn't support eliminating our right to hunt.

But I don't believe it for a second. I think he would end hunting with a snap of his fingers if he could. Of course, even as governor he wouldn't have been able to shutdown hunting, so it was easy for him to say he wasn't go to do so.

Elk from a helicopter? What a dork. Yeah, I remember him changing his tune on hunting during his campaign realizing he would never get elected with his stance. He still wouldn't get elected.

Does the man eat meat or use animal products?

If so, he's a raging hypocrite.

Not to mention the economy of his beloved Medina County would be badly hurt without its hunters.

I hunted in uvalde in sep of 06 and the guide worked for his girlfriend. She has a ranch around kerrville somewhere and will not let anyone harvest the animals she feeds them like cattle

When Kinky started his campaign for Govenor, Lora and I were both interested in him as an alternative for career politicains.

We were actually going to sign the petition to get him on the ballot.

Then we started reading some of the stiuff he was putting out about his stance on the various issues.

When we saw his stance on hunting, that was the last second we have had any interest in Kinky, or anything to do with him.
