I'm currently shoping around for hog lights. I've read a lot of reviews on the kill light and it seems to be worth the $80 a pop but I would like to do my homework on different lights before I purchase. Does anyone have any input on different lights on the market that might be cheaper? I have two stands with 2 feeders on each and always have about 3-4 buddies with me so I need at least 4 lights. I'm really interested in making my own. Any ideas on homemade lights? Any info would be greatly appreicated. Thanks
I would also like to avoid scope mounted lights.

1m candle power stanley rechargeable $19.99 lowes. I have a ND-3 and it is always too cold or just out of range to use it. They say 250 yards but I had trouble at 80 with it.

Those little stanleys are pretty good. They last forever. I have the small yellow one but I think it was more like 40 bucks though. I have seen the 20 orange stanley rechargeable but I have not used it. Probably the same thing.

Got a Streamlight super tac-x led weapon mounted on my LR-308 and it's the brightest thing I've ever seen!!! You could bring down planes and possibly spacecraft with that puppy. It's great to turn on and just let lead fly. Like shooting in the daytime and it's never too cold or hot for it.

I have the BowLite rifle kits and have personally tested them at 300yds. I could see just fine with them. Not affected by cold and a heck of alot cheaper than ND'S. You could have a few guys together shooting with only one light.

I got to test the Selph green LED light over the weekend easy to see 150 yards with my naked eye and 200+ into the trees with a scope
well thought out and executed I like it better than the Texasboars red/green LED weapon mounted light I have

I have the Elusive Wildlife (EW) XLR 250 and like it very much. It has been used on hogs and coyotes with great results.
I also bought 3 of the Chinese lights that are supposed to be comparable to the EW XLR 100. Several folks had raved about them on here. The cost for the 3 with pressure switch and mount was 42 bucks and change delivered. One of them had a flakey on/off switch out of the box (glad I ordered the pressure switches). They seem to be pretty good lights overall and their brightness is definitely sufficient for use with a bow. I'd say easily good to 50 yards and prolly up to 75-80 yards..but I wouldn't use it at 100 yards as only the top flight THF hunter with eagle eyes could acheive this. If you're willing to wait the approximate month and a half for delivery, I'd say this is a worthwhile purchase, depending on your specific use.
Otherwise, having old timers disease (not to mean Alzheimers)which means declining eye sight, I love my XLR 250 and feel the difference of 40 bucks between it and the XLR 100 is money well spent.

I've had good success with the Mini-Sniper lights but at this point I want to put lights at the feeder and don't want to spend $130 each.

If you have a hunting partner, this light is awesome. Used it this weekend at night. Very bright and focused beam. Battery lasts a decent amount of time, especially when you are not running it continuously. It's also very light and easy to carry.

Big fan of the XLR Series Lights.
I have bought 2 of the 250's and a 100 Dual mode for the Bow.
Bought a 250 first (green), the then the 100(green) and then another 250(red)
They have been great lights. You have to also like all of the accessories that they come with.
And... don't sell the 100 short. It's still a bad-boy within 100+ yards.

Ill second this one. The bowlite products are great...buy one lite and get a mount for your bow, gun, and bowfishing rig. also is compact and great for using as a regular handy flashlite. Has a low and high setting for close and long shots. This will be the last light you will ever have to buy

Looking at an XLR 250 but cant decide on red or green. Will be used on an AR15 most of the time for varmints and pigs out to 200 yards. Which color do yall prefer? Not trying to hijack the thread but sorry in advance to those who might see it that way.

Love my XLR250 in green, but cannot comment about red. Before I got mine a guy on here told me he had red and his buddy had green and he felt the green could be seen further. Hope that helps

I like my Hawg Lite for archery hunting. Red Sabre works good and Marauder has red green and white. Use it for bowfishing as well.

They sell the XLR 250 with a kit that comes with a red, green, and white light. It is well worth the extra money. Red works great for varmints (yotes, bobcats), the green is preferred for hogs and the white is just great for blinding someone, but honestly it is an extremely bright light and is very effective. My dad and I walked up within about 40 yards of three does with the red light as well. It is like they can see it but it doesn't really bother them. Hope this helps.

Personally, I prefer the red, but for longer distances the green is great. Red is great because it can double as a regular flashlight without blinding yourself at night.

Not trying to hijack the thread but sorry in advance to those who might see it that way. If you are getting just one color i would go with green. I have the package that had red, white, and green. If you ever see the green and then look at the red you will not be happy with the range you can see in red. Does the red work better on predators, prob. But I have had bobcat come from 350 yards plus with the green on the entire time. I would go with the package of all three colors, and then you could decide on your own what color works best for you.
