Me and a buddy just hunted Stone Creek Ranch up by Waco. I don't know which was better, the land, the lodge, or the personnel. Absolutely phenomenal experience all the way around. The ranch was extremely well manicured right from the front gate. There was very diverse terrain, from deep bottoms, African style brush and flats, nice plateaus; just an absolutely beautiful environment to spend the day hunting in. Their new 9000 sq ft lodge is nicer than any hotel I've ever stayed in. Each room is uniquely themed with 100% hand carved ornate beds and other furniture. The great room is massive and full of very nice, very large custom furniture. Full kitchen and full bar with granite counter tops and custom seating round out an awesome room. You couldn't ask for a better place to relax after a long hunt. Scott and Bobby are as good a'people as the lodge is nice. They've hosted some very VIP, which makes for good conversation topics during breaks, but they treated us just as well. They made us feel just like the high-rollers that come through there. We couldn't have asked for better camaraderie. They have a very nice selection of game as well. Off the top of my head, I recall seeing; elk, red deer, all 3 fallow types, scimitar horned oryx, blackbuck, zebra, wildebeest, waterbuck, a couple of sheep that I'm not familiar with, and probably more. There are supposedly gemsbok and axis, among other things, lurking about, but we didn't see them. I can't recommend this place enough. Y'all check 'em out. I had such a good time that I'm headed back up there on Sunday with some more friends! http://www.schuntingranch.com/Home_Page.phpHere's a little middle-sized SHO that I eventually took.

"It is the same boiling water that softens the rice, which hardens the egg." It's not always about the circumstances, but what you are made of....
