Between Zimabawe and South Africa, which country us better to go on a safari to?

If you want to hunt the wild atmosphere of Africa and don't mind spending the money, Zimbabwe. If you want a safe trip with no hassles and shoot quality animals, S Africa. S Africa is always a good choice for families or first time safaris. In Zimbabwe you can get out more in the wild wilderness and remote areas. There is nothing better than following a herd of 200 cape buffalo first thing in the morning in Zimbabwe!

Namibia, you can have both a wild experience and plentiful game. I have hunted all three and over all it's my favorite.

What would be good for first timer? South Africa, right?

S Africa for sure for the first timer. Really great deals these days and easy to get to with a direct flight from Atlanta to Johannesberg on Delta. Only 17 short hour flight. Once you go to Africa you will have it in your blood and can go back to experience the other countries and dangerous game. Check out the Steyn Safaris website. www.steynsafaris.com My daughter shot the Big 5 with them all in S Africa.

I can sell you a SA hunt for four animals (SCI trophies) 7 days of hunting all inclusive (less airfare & taxidermy) for less than a lot of 150-160 whitetail hunts in South Texas. Awesome hunt, tons of game and just an incredible adventure. No shots necessary to travel and pretty easy flight as mentioned above!!

For a first-timer, it is hard to beat South Africa or Namibia. Most of the hunting will be on large game ranches, the infrastructure is very good in both countries and it is relatively safe. There are some great deals to be had right now in both countries, especially for the more common plains game. Zimbabwe is more of an "old Africa" experience. Probably won't be hunting on a high-fenced game ranch like S.A. or Namibia, and the camps are more like the traditional East African tent camps. You will probably stay in a lodge in S.A. and Namibia, which makes it more conducive to bring the family. Great trophy quality in all 3 countries, but do your homework on the outfitter, esp. in Zims, as the game quality varies more from area to area there.

I have been 11 times and have been to all three. Namibia is very good for the first time safari. I will be going back in September of this year and July of next year. It depends on what you want to hunt and what you want to spend.

Have any of you been in April. I want to go this year and can only go in April but have been told that is a bad time.

April can be hit or miss depending on rains. If that is the only time you can go i would say namibia. I have been to all 3 and think you will have a great time with the right outfitter.

I have hunted in SA every month of the year except December. Hunted both Zim and SA in April. Sometimes when there are a lot of rains there can be a lot of vegetation making it harder to see and find animals. Hunting in SA you will be on a large game ranch much like the larger Texas ranches and they will put you on the animals. No worries about shooting your quota. Check out www.steynsafaris.com I am leaving Feb 8 to go over for 10 days. AGAIN

April 3- 14 this past year and it was excellent weather in Cape Province of SA. Only one day of light rain but they did say it was sort of a drought recently.
