Has anybody used these on their Feeder legs, to keep the coons out? We've used them on our feederswithout too much luck. I was wondering if anybody who's used them,has had any luck?

They have worked for us to detur coons and to keep hogs from bumping the legs.

Thet seem to give the coons more traction on my lease.

I've used cheap bearing grease, coated in crushed red pepper. It works well, & it's CHEAP!! Place it on the legs of the feeder, & you're good...

Crisco will solve your problems. Coat the legs and they won't mess with them. They don't like having things on Thier hands, and they won't climb it.

I used pvc. No coons on feeder since. Several years now.

Used em and proved to be a waste. They still climb up regardless. But after a large varmint cage was put into place and they figured out they couldnt get the corn out they stopped.

One of the guys on my lease used 'em.....and all it did was give them coons something else to hang onto. Better off
with Crisco!

A waste of money and time plus I put a bunch of holes in my feeder legs oh well. The best thing so far is a good critter cage and the eliminator spinner plate.

It may keep the coons off, but won't that draw everything else in the woods to the feeder?

If you get an Eliminator you don't even need the critter cage.

We put shark teeth on 2 sides of our legs starting about 1' above the ground. Ever once in a while one coon would still make it to the top but it always made us chuckle when we would see blood and fur on the teeth. We also had a 200'+ hog that could empty 300lb of corn in a week and a half by bumping the legs of the feeder. The shark teeth on the outside and inside of the legs stopped that too. With the price of corn what it is we feel the shark teeth paid for themselves with the pig alone.
Now we have converted both feeders to crank ups and don't have to worry about coons but on the one that is not inside a fence we still used the shark teeth to keep the pigs/cows from bumping the legs.

Try using carpet tack strip. It is cheap and will last for a few years. Be sure to place the tack strip so that the barbs are pointing up. The tack strip can easily installed with some cheap wire and a pair of pliers.

South Texas 'coons think it's like walking on carpet compared to everything else. An epic fail for us.

They look like one more way for me to hurt myself.

Damn, I wiah I had read this first. Put Shark's Teeth AND axle grease on my feeder legs. Have pictures of coons on both feeders that very night. I HATE COONS.

Crisco and grease are nasty. I have pics of hogs licking off the crisco. Anyway, they both attract dirt and grime and get all over your clothes when you bump into them.

We bought some of the Primos Vault feeder motors for less than $50 each and they are great! Plus, always set out some duke dog proof traps each year.

Zero pics of coons on 4 feeders so far this season.

BTW, if the coons are hungry enough, I don't know of anything short of grenades that will work 100% of the time. The colder it gets, the craftyR those darn things get!

Actually, I put on the Vault timer/spinner on my feeder this year and noticed a huge difference in corn consumption. It was $50 at Academy and has been running like a champ since August. I believe feeder-matic and boss buck sell the plates like the one used on the Primos Vault that seal up the funnel to the spinner when not throwing.

After we put eliminator spin plates on we took off our coon cages. Best investment we have ever made. They pay for themselves in a month. We hardly have coons on the ground eating corn. Beats the hell out of all other methods.
