went to my clients lease again friday afternoon and hit the woods. wind was strong out of the south so i set out on my usual routine of stalking the creek bottom in the thicket and checking fields. i sat under some brush taking a break to watch one of the last feeders they have running with no luck so i decided to head to the last spot i wanted to check before it got dark. wind shifted hard from the west so i changed route to not get winded. i was pretty much booking it trying to make a big circle around when i hear the craziest screeching just over the fence line to my right. i dropped to the ground behind a small mound for cover. sure enough a group of piggies comes of the thicket through the fence about 30 yards away. hot damn. my heart is racing. what freaking luck. decdide to take first shot at big mama while laying down. never held a gun in prone much less shot that way. boom. right through the ear. you can see my gun laying on the ground and my backpack where i was laying down. the race is on. i pop up to a knee. boom. gut shot number 2 it stumbles and creeps to the thicket. open left eye and see 2 big suckers change course and head right to me. boom boom. third shot down not more than 10 feet from me. fourth shot down at about 12 feet. you can see it laying under the yellow tree just past my backpack. pig number three sqeuals like hell and tries to get up. flopping around. i spin around to see if there is anything left and sure enough one last sucker was bolting full speed ahead. boom. you can see it to the right of big mama. i can still hear number 3 thrashing around behind me but it is now deep in the thicket and i leave it alone. bad to the bone. 5 shots damn near on top of each other. 3 piggies recovered and positive #2 AND #3 are coyote food. what a freaking rush. #1 #4 #5 winchester sx-ar 308, hornady 150 grain sst. coonsaw

sx-ar is bad to the bone. not as accurate as my winchester m70 270 supergrade but really does not have to be. accurate enough and cycles through the rounds johnny on the spot. has trouble when you pack it with 10 and tends to get stuck...solution is..pack it with nine and blast away. it is heavy which i think is great. easy to stay on target and keep pulling the trigger. very happy with it. i wanted a semi auto in 308 but did not want a 'black gun' cabelas had it on sale for 799. could not pass it up.

Guess this answers some folks questions about the sst's effectivness on hogs eh?
America is at that awkward stage. It's too late to work within the system, but too early to shoot the bastards. Claire Wolfe

both my 270 and 308 get the best and most consistent groups with the sst rounds. so that is all i use on scoped rifles. never had an issue with them.
