Ya'll need to ask Hopedale what he thinks about long hikes with heavy gear after his fun experience with me this weekend. He may need a heart bypass and I'm pretty sure I'm going to need knee replacement after our death march on Saturday.

Illegal to hunt on that Island, and I dont know about the 1 hr walk neither, you have to stay within the Wildlife management area boundry, when the lake is as low as it has been then you only have to worry about the left side and right side boundry lines but you can hunt all the way to the waters edge as per Lake X corps of engineer warden.

OK folks! Tidbit of info I learned from the last Saturday hunt of 2011-2012 season. If some 20ish-30ish y/o Army infantry super soldier says it not to bad, then that means the 50 y/o fat guy should lace his wader boots on even tighter than he did at the ramp. I mean make the laces like guitar string tight. Another thing is the mud that looks a little less wet is the worst mud of all. It grabs on to boots with a death grip like the devil. DO NOT be to proud to crawl to solid ground. Last thing is slow and steady wins the race, or at least will get you through to the end of the hunt. These guys will toss a FULL decoy bag on their back, and then toss another full bag on their chest(yes 2 full bags) and take off walking like no big deal. This determined attitude must be why the American fighting soldier is second to none. The overall memory is a positive one! Met a couple of hard core duck hunters, and the banter in the blind was fun. Thanks Chad!

No ringers but we did get a couple spoonies and we worked long and hard for em too. I wish I could have put on a better hunt. But I did have a good time. Every one of the hunts this year was some kind of crazy adventure.
