I have received a rifle and a revolver. The metal finish on both is worn, light rust in one spot on the revolver. I would like to get them resurfaced and have no idea what is best among the available options, getting it re-blued, parkerized, ceracoated, duracoated, or any other options. Can some of you offer guidance into the pros and cons of the different options and opinion as to which is best?
Thanks

I was thinking about getting a revolver camo dipped but I am wondering about the tolerances changing. Rebluing and parkerizing most likely means you are sending it out. I once duracoated a 96FS myself and it looks good and is still holding up after 8 years in the safe.

I'm assuming that both were previousley blue? I would have them re done in the original finish. But as to where to go, I don't know.

You don't mention what they are! If they are of a certain vintage and/or type they may be worth more without doing anything other than doing something about the rust!

The revolver is a Smith and Wesson Model 57 with as 6 inch barrel. It is the one showing some rust but I love the 41 magnum and want to get it fixed up for me to use. I think it was purchased new in the mid 1990's. The rifle is a Remington Model 700 in 270. It was my father's deer rifle and I also plan to keep it for my deer rifle, replacing my 7 mm magnum. If I remember correctly, he got the rifle in the late 1970's. I plan on keeping both of these guns so am looking for a long lasting coating.
