We got a good rain here in Polk and Tyler Co. Not sure the amount but any rain is welcome. I promised the Good Lord a long time ago, I will never complain about it being to cold or too wet.

Wow.. A bit touchy are we. I said I was HAPPY that you guys are getting rain.

I'd like to know more about these "millions that are lost as a result of a severe drought".. Please do explain this..

I realize that the beginning of the year was pretty bad. What with the lakes receding, and water being borrowed from Lake Conroe to supply Houston. Does not seem like we are still in a drought though. We have had more rain, and heavier rains, in the past few months than I can recall having had in a long time. Are we still really in a drought? How is the drought affecting YOU personally? I'm not being an [censored], I'd really like to know.

kawabuggy, i feel your pain on lost days, i work in construction, and time is money HOWEVER, the millions lost would be agriculture crops such as cotten, etc that never came up due to no rain. My father is a farmer and suffered 100% lost crop this year multiplied by hundreds of other farmers who shared the same fate. For me it always seems to rain the most when i dont need it too, but i know we need the rain so bad that i gotta roll with it and feel blessed when we do get some rain

Redhunter, I am sorry to hear about the problems with your family farms. I think I have it bad, but when you look at the big picture, 1 day of work lost pales in comparison to an entire season of someone's livelihood.

I knew that many ranchers/farmers were having to ship in hay to feed their cows, and had even heard on this site that some farmers were just opening their gates to allow the cows to roam free to graze wherever they could find food.

Living in the city, I don't see these challenges with water shortages that you guys see that depend on it for survival.

My apologies for appearing insensitive. I simply needed to better understand the "big picture" and not just how it affects me.

We only got 3/10 in Shamrock. But it's better than nothing at all.

Anyone know if Brackettville got rain...if so how much? Just curious as we will be doing our youth hunt out there in March. It was bone dry out there last year which I think had an affect on our hunting. I'm hoping it's a bit greener this year...
