I need some advice or info. I hung up reloading for about ten years. I am setting up my reloading table again, and drug my Reloader 19 and IMR 4831 out of my gun safe. My question is this,"If kept dry and in my gun safe, is this powder still good?". I suppose I could load a round or two and try it. What do you guys think?

"they" say if its smells ok, its good. Bad smell = ammonia smell I think.

Forum says "Veteran Tracker". I could not track a garbage truck into a fireworks factory.

If it's dry and hasn't been stored for extended periods at temperature extremes it's good.

Yes, it should be fine. For several years I loaded my 270 Win hunting ammo with some old IMR4350 that was given to me by a friend. It was from the 60's. It shot great and gave me almost 3200 fps with a 130 grain bullet. I'm out of that powder now, and use up-to-date powder lots. If stored properly, it will last a long time.

Thanks Guys, with the cost of powder these days, it's nice to save when I can.

If its clumped, then it needs to be dumped.

Dry and loose and smells good...it's fine.

I've loaded some really old stuff grandpa gave me...not sure if it was old as that stuff Chad used but if it's stored inside in the 60-80 degree range in low humidity it's gonna be fine for a long time.

Usually when nit. powder starts to desolve or is old, it will get
somewhat dusty...It makes good fertilizer if not good..on grass
or trees...If you load some and chronograph it, you will know for
sure...my hunting buddy found some in his safe that said $7.00 a
can....he did put it out to pasture...litterally...DD
