I just got in from Brushy Creek Wilderness myself. Pig_Sticker is right on! Roger runs a great place and he and his crew will do whatever it takes to A) feed you until you can't take another bite and B) put you onto some great pigs!

I had about 10-15 large hogs and about 12 piglets come into the feeder about 4:30 Saturday afternoon in one large, noisy group. There were so many, I had a hard time concentrating on just one. Finally, a nice sow presented a good shot and I took it. I got a complete pass through with a 100 grain Muzzy 3 blade. It was my very first bow kill and she dropped within about 25 yards of the feeder. Two of Rogers's crew, Kenny and Todd, had her quartered and in the cooler within a few minutes.

There were 4 people hunting this weekend and 4 pigs hit, 3 recovered. We all looked for the 4th pig for a couple of hours through some extremely heavy brambles. The guy who shot it thought he had a good hit but he didn't get a pass through. We tracked pinhead-sized drops of blood every 50 feet or so for 5 or 6 hundred yards but finally lost the trail after the hog managed to break the arrow off. We will definitely be going back sometime this spring.

All in all, it was one of the best hunts I've been on. Feel free to shoot me a message if I can answer any questions.

Dave S

Roger showed me a pic of your pig - that was a BOSS hog! Shoot me a message when you get ready to head back out there. Maybe we can meet up. What stand did you hunt? I was on #2. 2 pigs were taken on #2, 1 on 3, and 1 on the trail near the popup.

Hello Everyone,

Just got back yesterday night from Bushy Creek Wilderness and let me tell you something. Roger and his crew were outstanding. They did what ever it took to put on a First class operation, and it was. From feeding you some outstanding campfire food to putting you on lots of pigs. Roger has about a 50% kill rate and 95% shot opportunity.

We arrive at Roger’s place around 2 pm Friday afternoon. Immediately Rogers was offering some food. We chit chatted a few about the pigs and about this being the first time my brother would do some bow hunting. Friday was a cold, wet and sleeting afternoon. .

Roger took us out around 3:15pm, heading to where the stands were. We saw 3 sows running down the road. They were heading through the brush towards on of his stand placements (#3). I told my brother I would hunt that one thinking that I would have a heads up and he could hunt #2 about 5-6 hundred yards away from me. Not 15 minutes after climbing in the stand I get a text message from my brother stating “seen 6 no shot 40 yards away feeder scared them”. I was waiting, listening and watching the squirrels eat all the corn. Not 20 minutes later I get another text from my brother, “I just played sweet string music”. Trying to respond to him asking if he needs help he calls. I whisper “hello”, all I could hear was him breathing hard and saying “Whoa Whoa”. I was so excited for him being this is first ever kill with a bow, I climbed down and made my way over to his stand. He was still in his stand fist pumping and the adrenaline running thru his veins. I see the arrow sticking in the ground under the feeder with the prettiest sight ever coated in RED. He tells me that he sent his 100gr Magnus Stinger straight thru the porker. He said the pig ran to the right and crashed into the palmettos. I saw the blood and quickly called Roger, telling him lil’ bro got one and we can’t find him. Roger said to mark it and we will look for him in the morning since night was approaching. We marked it and I started walking back to the feeder when I saw a puddle of red slush, we started walking over there and what did you know, there laid the boar. After a few high fives and some photo ops we called Roger to bring the meat wagon.

DaveS903 joined us Saturday afternoon. He and my lil bother both harvested some pork chops that evening. I never had a better time hunting them porkers this weekend. If you are truly looking for a great time eating, campfire talks, and shooting some pigs then you must and I mean must go to Rogers place. I will guarantee you that you will not be disappointed and you will get a shot opportunity. I will definitely be going back around March.

The normal price is $100/day without meals, $125/day with meals (his meals are very good) but he has a $25 off special going for the next month or so.

Dave S

PS: I hunted the same stand, Pig_sticker. I saw about 25 or so. About 10 were in the 100 - 175 range and the rest were piglets. One very large boar came in and sniffed the dead sow about 20 minutes after I shot then walked off. I would guess he went 250 or so.

Pig_Sticker, this look familiar? From the stand to the middle of the feeder is 24 yards.
