I have a new M&P 9mm and I wonder how safe is it to carry one in the chamber? I was wondering what public opinion was on the subject? Give me an ear full... Please.

I've been carrying a glock for the past 2yrs, with one in the chamber and have no problems with it. What good is it if I need it and can't use it immediatley? No, it doesent take long at all to jack one into the chamber but its one less thing I have to think about. It goes on in the holster and gets taken off in the holster. Always be aware, keep your booger hook out of the trigger guard and you should be fine.

My thoughts exactly! But I would like some input just to see what people think. I shoot a P250 Sig with long heavy triggerpull. This M&P is short and and light (it's a dream!).

I can't think of any semi-auto I would carry without one in the chamber.

Keep your finger out of the guard or off the trigger until you have a target.

make sure you have a good holster and you're good to go.

This! And have a holster that covers the trigger guard. I always carry with one in the pipe.

I do on all my other weapons, but this one is new, and I wanted to make sure there were no limitations. Thanks!

Technically speaking the M&P has the glock style trigger safety. Not that I understand what the point of it is. But it is supposed to be lease likely to Accidentally discharge since you have to pull the two part trigger to make it fire.

80+% of officers are carrying this way. Yes they are trained but only the cop on Youtube shoots himeself so you should be good to go.

How many times should you chamber -> drop the mag -> eject -> put back into the mag -> re-chamber the SAME bullet without worrying about it's integrity?

Its diffrent for every gun and bullet. Some set back faster than others. In general once I put a bullet in the chamber it stays there until it gets shot or I go to the range. I do like to empty the mag and ill put the chambered round at the bottom of the mag. I try to replace my carry ammo every 6 months and shoot up the old stuff for practice.
