Check with local feed store for fur buyer info.

Not to sidetrack the thread too far, but...where can I purchase tanned furs? I'd like to have a coon, bobcat, and a skunk just "because."

Is that something that's even possible/legal? I'd shoot the critters myself, but I'm landless and lease-less.

Head out to the Corps land around Lake Texoma and you can shoot all of the coons and skunks you want. Huge coons out there but you'll probably have to call in the bobcats or just get extremely lucky finding one roaming around.

country buyers wont give you jack for your furs. they sell to NAFA or fur haversters association. dont expect more than $4-8 for coon if its skinned, fleshed, and dried. bobcats last year in central texas were bringing $15-25. if your in the panhandle or high west texas, cats may bring $75-100. our fur down here isint worth Sh**. coyotes last year didnt bring anything. you may make more money by having them professional tanned and then selling to individuals.

And if you go that route. This might be an option. Anyone use this company? All I have seen online has been positive about them.

We met with the fur buyer from R-P in Llano over the weekend. Cats are the only thing really bringing any money, up to $100 for big ones. Coons were $5 and down, Grey fox was $8 and coyote was only $3. These are all for green hides. He said coons are so low because he doesn't have commitments from anyone to buy them. He's just going to hold them back until the market picks up again.

Yes. They are tanning my deer hide for my buck this year. I messed up his cape but decided to salvage it by tanning it so I can still enjoy it. They let me look at their finished work for other customers before paying and I was really impressed.

If it looks good, eat it.

Rocks are cool, also kittens.
