Guess I'm partially at blame for that. I'm the one who sent him the link to Karls site after I had my 280 built by Mickey Coleman. Mine was already in the works before I learned about Karl. Now Karl has a 2 or 3 year wait and I'm just not that patient. hammer

You may wish to think about having your bbl throated and loading
past max...My old neighbor in San Antonio had a pre 64 that I reloaded for years ago, and he had me go up to 3 to 5% over max
which made cringe until he told me about having the weapon throated...I saw him kill deer off handed at over 500 yds several
times..he was very careful not to heat up his bbl also..DD

Are you saying that on multiple occasions you saw this individual shoot (and kill) deer from unsupported, "off-hand", man standing on his back legs holding a rifle up and shooting without a rest from a distance of 500yards? That's 500yards between the man shooting off hand and the deer, not you seeing him shoot a deer from a position 500yards away from your observation point. Is that right?

Silhouhete shooters shoot deer size targets off hand at 500 meters. Not saying anybody can do it but it's not unheard of.

A hit anywhere on the silhouette target counts as long as the target is knocked off it's stand - there is a huge difference between scoring a hit on a 27" x 32" silhouette at a known range vs. hitting a roughly 12" killzone on a whitetail at "500+ yards". There is also a rather large difference between shooting a game animal and a metal silhouette in that a bad hit on the latter only costs points....
