Leaving today to chase a big axis in velvet. We were gonna hunt oryx but Glynn could not get the deal done with his suppliers in time. He is still trying so maybe we can work it out before April 4th. Fingers crossed.

Oh well. Life goes on. Will keep this post updated with posts. Later.

Thx. This will be our 4th trip since July. I shot a 32" axis last year. The axis were pressured and hunted hard. We barely even seen axis that trip. Now since there has not been much pressure, we hope to have a chance at a good one.

An axis in velvet has been a dream animal of mine. We shall see. wink

I don't doubt that there will be some good ones down there judging from the last time I was down.

That's a great buck. Right now I'm only planning on taking does...but that might change if a good buck like that walks out. Haha!

The first time I went was my wifes first time on an actual hunt. She is an animal lover, but I bought her a bow and she is convinced she would be able to shoot a turkey or a hog. So after I had shot my axis we had spotted a turkey and were putting a stalk on it through one of the river beds. We were about to get ready to be in position and I reach for my wife and she isn't there. I look back and about 100 yards away she was picking up arrowheads and was excited beyond believe to just find things so ancient. It was pretty funny how she lost complete train of thought, none the less the turkey got away.

I just got off the phone with Bill, my hunt starts on Monday Feb. 20th. Lots of bucks ready to start shedding velvet right now, according to Bill. So maybe by the 20th I'll have a better opportunity for a nice one that's hard horned. Good Luck on your velvet hunt!!!

Thx Drop tine. If a big one is rubbing out I will still shoot him and have him mounted as is. I think that looks cool.

Fbc, you will be hooked. 9 awesome tower stands with nice office chairs in them. 3-5 nice bow blinds. 2 polaris rangers. Super nice people. It will be hard to beat buddy. Good luck and I hope your plan and finances work out.
