This guy is a joke. I booked a hunt for 4 guys with them. It was a birthday gift for my father. 2 of the guys came from out if town to meet at my house so we could drive down there.
I talked to the guide yesterday. He told me it should be a great hunt and we looking forward to meeting us.
This morning I'm driving down. We are 15 mins from the meeting spot and the guide calls me. Says he is too sick to hunt. After, I drove an hour and a half and calls me 15 mins before the hunt??
He had no remorse or anything. Just pretty much told me it wasn't gonna happen and to eff off.

I woke up at 3am and loaded all my gear. My father n law went yesterday and bought a hunting license and stamp and shells it was gonna be his first hunt. Not to mention my father n law and I live about 3 hrs from this guide. Like Hard n fast said he called this morning about 15 minutes before the hunt and said he's sick and can't do it. He even said he had a couple guys that were going to help him with decoys so we just suggested one Of the other guys take us out even if they can't run a call we drove all this way we just want to hunt, he said no its too much of a liability and hung up the phone on us. Complete Bull sh&t! A simple call last night would have been the right thing to do but he handled everything the wrong way! Do not waste your time with this guy.

Their are poor guides as in any other business which makes good ones look great...Remember this next time some guy works his butt off, brings lunch, drinks, spends weeks scouting, and gets you the animal and you tip him less than you would a waitress for less service..Conversely, when you get one like above..Dish him to the World..maybe no one else will be screwed..Don

I've been talking back and forth with hardnfast and I'm going to talk with Rick and get this resolved.. Doesn't sound like him but if he doesn't fix this he will loose my business too. I've been hunting with him for along time now.. Not sure if he understands that the people booking from here aren't Ennis local guys and needs to realize that before doing such an act as this morning!!
I know everyone wants to hear the outcome and if it turns out he Wont fix this then I want everyone to also know how he is..
Really pisses me off that he would do such a thing but ifhe wants to loose business so be it!!

This guy is a joke. I would be willing to bet you this is what happened.... He probably has a set group of hunters that hunts with him every year. He probably does not care who he makes mad because he will always have those groups of hunters that come every year and are satisfied.. And he probably has been doing it a long time and could care less about you and your hunt.... Thats my guess.... I hate guides like that, most of the ones in South Texas are that way.. A lot of them are good and will do everything they can but most don't care. I try to do everything possible to make my hunters happy from cleaning their kills to holding the fence for them, some guys just don't care and it ruins it for all of us guides.

That's exactly what we were thinking. There isn't a lot he can do to make this right. Even if he called and offered to take us for free it wouldn't happen. I don't care to do business with that guy.
Karma sucks though.

Yes, we did have an unfortunate situation today, that forced the cancellation of a highly anticipated hunt for all parties.
Rick is suffering from a stomach flu. He was on his way to the lease this morning (an hour and a half from his home) and became ill (vomiting and fever) while on the road. It was at this point that he made the call to cancel the hunt.
Hunting is not a job or hobby to us. It is a passion. One which we understand is shared by our clients. This is why an enjoyable experience and the safety of clients are our primary concerns in any hunt, and Rick did not feel he could provide a safe and enjoyable hunt under the circumstances. This is the reason for the cancellation.
Rick notified Hardnfast as soon as he realized he would not be able to hunt, and offered to reimburse his fuel costs.
We continue to extend our apologies to Hardnfast and his party for the inconvenience. Being a family that also hunts together we understand how much today meant and the level of disappointment when it was not able to happen. We are sure that everyone will understand the decision this morning was not made lightly, and wish Hardnfast and his party success in their future hunts.Rick was on

His "offer" to repay fuel cost was very sarcastic and was rude to me. But if he wants to repay us for fuel then have him call me. We will work that out. 2 of the guys drove 3 hours away for the hunt so yes, I will take him up on that offer.
Also, it's funny his wife called me and said he was at the gas station waiting on me and decided to come home. When I asked to speak with Rick he called me back from the same exact number his wife did 5 mins later. Seems kinda fishy to me.
Then hanging up on me? That was fairly sorry also.
But we won't add in the fact my father went out and bought his first hunting license in 5 years and a waterfowl stamp plus 2 boxes of shells for this hunt either.
Oh well, I'll expect a phone call or a PM regarding the fuel. Thanks.

references...Then book a hunt. The reference was made by me.. That was my bad on that part.. Rick we understand things happen but come on now a few minutes before the hunt!! These guys invest alot in planning and alot of money driving to ur location to do a hunt with u.. On that note u were sick I totally understand but that might should have been a SUCK IT UP CALL and do the job u scheduled to get done.. Especially since u got sick at the last minute.. U need to think about not only u in those circumstances but mainly ur CUSTOMERS!!! I can't afford to make myself look bad and also make hard working hunters spend there hard earned money and get done like this and recieve nothing in return!! But hardnfast I'll shoot u a message when we go out duck hunting again.. Most likely next saturday and ur welcome to join us!!

I realize I'm kind of new here but just a quick question...If these gents were paying to be guided on a hunt and the guide got sick (even if it was a little while before the scheduled hunt) couldn't someone(like the outfitter) have found another guide(at the ranch) for them to hunt with rather then turn them away a little while before they were to hunt after driving for such a long distnce ?
Sab-yup, that's my name

Well, just got off the phone with Rick from Family Affair Guide Service. He apologized. But failed to mention anything about reimbursement of his our fuel costs. He kept his word on that pretty much like he showed up for our hunt.
I didn't expect it actually. This guide service has a hard time keeping their word.
He also said he barely made it thru their hunt on sat and was extremely ill all day. So why didn't we get a call sat night telling us he wouldn't make it Sunday morning? He said he could've given us about 25%. Well, 25% of something is better than 100% of nothing.
Like I said before, these guys are incompetent and are pretty much a joke when it comes to customer service.
Take it from me, Blake, and the other two gentlemen that were stood up.....
DON'T USE THIS GUIDE SERVICE!!!!!!!

He lost a lot of business cause if it had been even a decent hunt we would have booked multiple times for seasons to come. I dont have a place to hunt geese so he wouldve had my business. Some people just dont like money I guess.
Me? I live my life by one gangster rap lyric " If don't make dollas, it don't make cents"
Seems pretty ridiculous for a small time outfit to treat people bad
