Hey folks I'm going to post a few field photos (some I've already posted before) of the buck I took in September and some new ones of him home from the taxidemist. He took the spot over the fireplace from my biggest elk. I tried to get several different angles to show off all hes got. His coat was real thin I guess due to the hot and dry summer but I think my taxidermist did a good job with him. Later Folks. Baker

Recently there have been several photos of Axis Bucks on this forum and several have questioned the size or length of the antlers. I'm going to post several photos of an Axis buck I killed last month on a hunt with Robert Stuart of Tafrica Outdoor Adventures. The ranch we hunted has no feeders so it was a true spot and stalk hunt which I really preferred. Robert is a great guy to hunt with and I'd recommend him to anyone looking to hunt quality exotic animals. This was my first chance to hunt in Bandera county and I really enjoyed it. The Landowner was a fantastic guy and really made me feel at home.
I believe I mentioned that the ranch had no feeders so the hunt was challenging to say the least. I started hunting at daylight and finally connected about 20mins after sundown. The shot would not have been possible with my old eyes without a quality scope on my rifle. I hunted all day and never knew axis are as wary as they are. It was a great hunt and I'm already looking forward to the next time I can hunt with Robert.
The exact measurements on the buck are as follows.
1. Right main beam 33 6/8"
2. Left main beam 33 7/8"
3. Right Browtine 11"
4. Left Browtine 14 1/8"
5. Right Cauddle 8 1/8"
6. Left Cauddle 8"
7. Both bases were about 6"
The buck carryed his mass out all the way to his tips. I don't know what he will score but he will look great in my trophy room. I'm proud of the shot because he never took a step. Thanks for letting me share my hunt. Later Baker

Where did you shoot him at?

Put it thru both front shoulders. Shattered the ball joint on the near shoulder and buried in the off side shoulder. I'm lucky it dropped him because there was not a drop of blood. OBTW I was shotting my trusty 300WM, Hornady 180grain SST's.
