Anybody done it? How much does it end up costing? are there a lot of other hunters in the woods? Bow only? Sure would like to know the details since i live not too far off of 377. Thanks

hsu, i know where your talking about and have wondered myself.

i know there is a bridge off of 377 that as soon as you go down to the river, there is a COE sign right there. i've fished the river, i THINK its a part of the brazos or trinity, i cant remember.

if you fly fish, this stretch of the river is perfect for it, and really beautiful. bear creek is good for the sandbass!

i also have fished right their, caught a lot of sandbass. I use minnows and put them in the holes. Right there under the bridge just between Up a Creek Liquor and On Target. Always wondered about hunting though.

Had a friend hunt there this year. There is a drawing in which 12 people are drawn for a certain time frame.(I think) He said he saw some big deer but the area has alot of open very thick grass land. I have never hunted it though and I go through Benbrook every day heading to work from Granbury. If we didn't own a ranch, I would check into it.

I dove hunt out there and have deer hunted a time or 2.
It's bow only by draw. You put your name in for 2 week blocks. I have never seen deer on the 377 side, but have seen some very nice bucks while hunting on the other end of the lake. Most the land is open with very thick tall grass unless your in the river bottom, but then it gets thick with briars. I have seen alot of hunters out there this year. More than any other year.

I'm a Hardin-Simmons grad. Some of my best memories happened at HSU. Hope all is still well in Abilene.
