Looking for a cheap alternative for now. I plan on getting the xlr250 but I have ran my fun money dry for the moment. Any cheaper alternatives on a scope mounted lights? I have seen a few but don't want to just waste money. But then again I don't want to set on the sidelines either. I hunt by Memphis and would really like to see a xlr 250 in action if someone wants to give me a demonstration.

Have both the XL250 and nd3. I've found in Thurber the nd scares the heck out of pigs. Haven't got to try the XL due to my son shooting a big bore and they have scattered the past two weeks but have high hopes trying the red led first but have the green and the white as well.

xlr250 is an awesome light! Other than 1 yote, I haven't had anything run when hit with the light...I'm sure it happens, nothing is foolproof, but I haven't had that happen to me yet good luck!
I will get off in a little bit You shouldnt have said that

My buddy and I shot 4 hogs Saturday night at 150 yards using the XLR250 green light. I would have felt comfortable shooting over 200 yards with this light. Makes for alot of fun. Both of the lights were his, I will have one in the mail next week. It is a must have.

Alright, I got a stupid question. If you're sitting in your blind, how do you know when there are pigs at your feeder so you know when to turn on your xlr250 or nd3 or whatever.
From what I can tell, both of these are just gun mounted flashlights that are extremely powerful.

But you can also watch your camera to sense movement. I bought the xlr 250 because we have one 250 acre peanut patch, and will have 700 or so planted this year. So I don't usually kill my pigs at a feeder.

I also bought an EWT feeder light in addition to my XLR-250. They are inexpensive and you can just use the magnets to slap them on the bottom of the feeder.
Also, with a good pair of binoculars, there are few nights that you can't pick them out at a feeder without a feeder light. I still like the feeder light.
Be sure to slowly lower the light onto the hogs like you would with predators. Don't just turn it on directly at them or you can start a stampede.

I wonder if you could set up a pig pipe on a concreted in post, and mount a light on the post? But you can also watch your camera to sense movement. I bought the xlr 250 because we have one 250 acre peanut patch, and will have 700 or so planted this year. So I don't usually kill my pigs at a feeder.

I will probably start out with the feeder light from EWT and then when more money frees up get the xlr250.
My binoculars must not be that great because the only times I would be able to see what was at the feeder in the middle of the night would be when there was a full moon.

I use the solar powered motion lights for my feeders. About 50 bucks and they work good enough that I can see my feeder from my house and that is 250 yards away. And still make clean shots.

ghamilton, pigs are not quiet animals once they get around that feeder, the squeals and grunts should tip you off if your not too far away

I use the $4-$5.00 landscape lights tie wrapped to t-posts around my feeders. You need a few of them, but they work plenty fine for me. Don't need batteries and they come on at dark every night, last all night. I can see the piggies come in and the game is on.
Though I have night vision now, I also have the XLR 250. Killed a hog less then 2 weeks ago with it. Works fine...

Like to suggest checking out some of our lights. We have a Tri-LED emitter setup on our Series 2 that will hit over 200 yards. what color would you suggest for a pig/predator combo....green or red? Green is usually the first color most people choose because it lights up further. If you have trouble spooking them try switching to red.

Redhunter, I'll have to remember that about being able to hear the hogs when they go to the feeder. We hunt from 100 yds at one feeder and 120 yds from our other feeder. They used to go the 100 yd feeder last year and before that during the daytime and I could usually count on getting one or more hogs per year just hunting during the daytime.
On the other place, we have never seen hogs at the feeder nor seen sign from them at that feeder, but about 1/2 mile from there also on our land there is large area of thick salt cedar maybe 500 yds long and 50 yds wide that goes all the way to the far west end of our property and the salt cedar continues on for miles, so the hogs have plenty of scat and tracks in the salt cedar, but they don't seem to go to our feeder 500 yds away in the open at least based on their sign or lack thereof.
