Opening weekend of October I headed down to a ranch I have hunted several times before, Koon's Canyon Ranch. My mission was to get my first buck with a bow. Here is my view as I enter the ranch. Saturday ended without a kill on my end, which led into a LOOONNNNGGG night around the campfire. Sunday morning I woke up late, immediately dressed myself and headed to the stand. When I had entered the stand it dawned on me that we had moved the chair out of there, so I sucked it up and climbed in. As soon as I got settled in I went to put on my release, what else did I forget back at camp? OFCOURSE, my release. Due to the fact that I pull 85#'s it is pretty much a necessity for me or else it feels like my fingers are being ripped off. Well I sucked it up anyways. About an hour later I had a black hawaiian that I had been after come straight in to the feeder and @ 15 yards, bare fingers and all, I let it fly. After a short tracking job this was the result. He measured about 29" on each side, which I was more than happy for my first black hawaiian. The next day we were driving around the ranch and came up on some axis does. I decided to try and shoot one with my T/C Encore Endeavor Muzzleloader. The shot looked good, but the blood trail was sparse and took us about 2 hours to find. None the less, we were still fortunate to recover my first axis doe. After a 4 solid days of hunting and messing up on the first buck I shot at and missed completely hitting low, I was finally able to connect on 2.5 year old 6 point that was on the hit list. Overall it was a great long weekend of hunting and meeting new friends. The total count for time I was there was 2 axis does, 4 black hawaiian, 2 whitetail bucks, 1 fallow doe, and 1 whitetail doe. Had a great time and as always am looking forward to my return! Disclaimer: I know the is 3 months late, but I have had a busy few months, better late then never! Also, to whom it may offend, I apologize I didn't wipe all the blood clean off the animals, they were in the field pics and will still carry a lifetime of memories. No "disrespect" was meant towards the animals..........so any advice on how to take "more appropriate" pics isn't necessary. Thanks for looking!

My buddy, Kurt, was able to shoot this with his bow while on the trip. An awesome management 7 point that was high on the hit list. He accidently shot through the fabric of the pop-up blind and ended up hitting the deer in his back leg. After a massive blood trail and 150 yards later this is what we found...... I personally don't shoot Rage broadheads, but apparently here is the evidence they do work. Here was the final pic of the weekend referred to as "Last Ram Standing."

Ive heard of deer being hit in the back leg and bleeding out pretty quick which makes since seeing a human will bleed out in about 2 minutes if an artery is severed. Also I wouldn't wanna try and pull 85 lbs bare handed 70 isn't even comfortable so great work.
