Has anybody shot one. An is recoil manageable. Considering geting one for a grizzly hunt in the future if I can't get a shot with my bow.

No, but I have two of the wood stocked R1's in 30-06 and the gas action soaks up recoil to amazing levels. Yes I've shot plenty of '06's - no comparison in the difference.
Sorry I can't directly answer for the new 338win.

I shot a Browning BAR 338 Win Mag several years ago and the recoils wasn't bad at all.

I have an A-Bolt SS in .338 with a KDF muzzlebrake. Sweet shooting gun. Not too bad on the shoulder. I now have a Caldwell Lead sled and it is like shooting a .223. Can shoot as many times as I want and never feel it. Shooting at game you won't hear or feel the shot anyway.
