Don't know if anybody else has posted this, didn't see it. It's a discount model made to compete at a price point. Like it or hate it this is the price that the majority of new rifles sold today are selling for. Some in this price segment are pure garbage, some are very good values for the money.

This rifle looks like it may be a winner for Ruger. The expolded parts view indicates a barrel nut - barrel/caliber changes similar to Savages system would seem to be possible. 70deg bolt throw, tang safety, accutrigger like trigger adjustable to 3 pounds. 4 round detachable mag. I will probably buy one to play with....

I believe it has a better trigger and magazine than the Savage, has a much shorter bolt throw and a better stock/lug design (I'm talking about the way the stock mates to the rifle, not the looks). It's also supposed to be super smooth and very accurate. Time will tell....

looks good, and comes with the drop box mag where a lot of other rifles you have to pay for extra to buy the DB bottom metal/mag. Should be a winner if it is accurate!

Huge Ruger fan here, but that has to be the ugliest gun they have ever made. That thing looks NOTHING like a Ruger!

The receiver looks like a Tikka T3 with a Savage barrel nut

Yeah, Ruger should have ignored the strongest segment of the market - what were they thinking! Idiots! How will they stay in business what that kind of stupidity...

they should't compromise their values...looks bad.

I think a little less of a company tht puts out products like that.

Well, neither one of us have seen the rifle yet. From what I've read about it I'm impressed. It's got a lot of great features for the money. Just because it's an inexpensive rifle doesn't mean it's garbage like the Remington 770.

Believe it or not, Ruger's original casting techniques were heralded as garbage when the 77 was first introduced. The rifle looks like it will be a well built accurate, reliable shooter. Whether we like it or not, budget rifles like this outsell all the others by a large margin.

IMO, Ruger did not compromise their principles - it looks to me that they built a rifle that will be much closer to a Tikka or a Steyr Pro Hunter than a Savage Axis or a Remington 770. In that regard they are continuing the value oriented principles that the company was founded on.

I'm interested in one, will be looking at them when available. If I look at them and they're garbage I'll be the first to say so. If I buy one and it's a POS, I'll be the first to say so.

If they did it right and is accurate without the IMO design flaws Remington did with the 710 and fixed with the quality issue ridden 770 then Ruger just might have a winner.

RWH nailed the looks, Tikka T3 action, Remington 770 stock and Savage accutrigger. Or that is what it looks like to me

I think the people at Ruger are losing their minds with some of their latest pistols and now this rifle, also they are discontinuing the No. 1B standard, crazy....Bill Ruger would not like this.

Probably just a prototype. As with any new product I am sure they will do some more tweaking before it is officaly released to the market.

What values? IMO a company in a capitalist society needs to sell products and services that customers will buy. If customers are buying rifles at that price point, it is incumbent upon the company to provide a product they will buy. To do otherwise would be moronic. If the product it junk , people will not buy it. I grew up hearing the Weatherby name as "high end". Is the Vanguard a POS because it is a low end product?

Yeah, they're going bat***t with their LCP and LC9. Those two pistols alone will ruin Bill's company.

Seriously?

they will buy it all day long then complain about it, even though its their own fault when it dosen't perform well

But what if it does perform?

Do you remember how cheap the Tikka's and the Steyr Prohunters were when they first came out? I think this rifle has potential. Have to wait and see...

Also, in answer to some other posts, stainless finishes, additional calibers and camo patterns are supposed to be available later this year....
