My altenator went out on my F250. Does anyone know how to get the fan shroud off to get to the belt tensioner?

My 2003 F350 shroud slid to the left and pops off several tabs. We broke several of them prying the dang thing off so I just left it off ! Good luck

To change the alternator you don't have to go through all that. There is a MUCH easier way to do it without removing anything but the bolts on the alternator. I've done several and takes about 20 mins to do start to finish.
Under the tensioner is a little spring loaded tab. You might have to feel under there for it. I stand on the passenger side and pull the belt up and toward the fender. At this point, it helps to have another person, but can be done by yourself. The tab flips up and locks the tensioner in place. At this point the belt is loose and the alternator can be easily removed and changed. Make sure the belt hasn't slipped off any of the other pulleys and give the belt another pull. This will release the tab and the belt will go back into place.
If you need pics, I can get some tonight. It makes changing the alternator a LOT easier.
