Benetta 92fs is one of my favorites or a CZ 75 variant. I prefer the look over the glock, safeties and a visible hammer are a plus SA/DA over DAO, and I'm just a fan of the two said brands over the glock

Beretta- good looks, nice safety, heavy, goes boom every time
Glock- ugly, no safety, light, goes boom every time.
Im a fan of both
Sometimes chicken, sometimes feathers

What feels better in your hand and points naturally.
Beretta does for me, The grip angle of the Glock does not
match my muscle memory. Glocks are fine guns, what fits yoy best
and what you shoot the best. If you are comfortable with it, one less thing to worry about.

I've got some of both. As for as reliabilty goes neither has ever had a failure of any kind. Both are accurate. Buy which one you like best. Either one will serve you well.
It should just come down to how each feels and if you prefer a hammer vs a striker etc.

If you are going to buy either one of those you might as well buy the S&W M&P or Ruger SR9.
Otherwise Sig Sauer.

chital_shikari, If you live close to or want to drive a little. GT Distributors has GLOCK trade in pistols. Different generation productions, models and calibres for very good prices. Some are factory refurbished. Call and ask. http://www.gtdist.com/

I like them both, but I prefer Glock. If you're going to check out Glocks, be sure to try a Gen3 and Gen4. The grips feel different.

Both companies make a number of different pistols. If you're comparing apples to apples then the most logical comparison is the G17 vs the Beretta 92 variants in 9mm. In terms of dependability they're going to be about the same. They are entirely different weapons. The B 92 is the older weapon and is an upgrade of a design dating back into the 60's. The weapon was designed in 1975 from the start as a military combat pistol. It's a traditional TDA or DA/SA design. It's strong point is accuracy at distance and perhaps the best TDA trigger in the business that's easy to prep. It is still a TDA which makes it a very slow weapon in terms of bringing it into action. The G17 was also designed as a military weapon but is newer, designed originally in 1979 to 1982 and was a landmark weapon in a lot of ways. It is a variant of DAO trigger and is very fast pistol, quick to get into action and much more suited as a police weapon or a self defense weapon. IMHO the compact version, the G19 is the best medium framed 9mm in the world.

I've owned both. First pistol I bought for myself was a 92FS. It is a great gun. A little heavy. I bought a Glock 19 and sold the Beretta. Sometimes, I regret it.
But I'm never selling my Glock.
You can get into the striker fired vs. SA/DA. Personally, I think there is real merit in the same trigger pull every time. The Glock is much lighter and has a very nice trigger reset. Neither is a target pistol.
Hard to make a bad choice.

Find one for me smurf and we can talk about it. Sig's are hard to beat. But Glock or Beretta are very good too. I'd let him handle each see what he likes. We carry either P226 or P228 depending on the situation, and if I had to holster one everyday, it would probably be the P228 for concealed carry.

Glocks are made of plastic, which means you can't bake them into a cake and send them to your homies in jail. Other than that, with a proper holster or trigger cover, I really don't see a downside... Lighter thinner hold more bang pills cheaper and dang near indestructible.

I have seen Beretta 92's that are not very reliable. One in particular was a friend or mines who had a nicer one but would not shoot anything but brass factory. My glock will shoot just about anything. Even rounds with the primer struck once by another gun and no detonation.
I personally highly prefer blocks between the 2, but totally agree a sig 229/226 is the best of both guns in one.
I'm a dude who likes long barrels!

I don't buy that KR. In the US firearms trials in the early 80's the Beretta 92 was the most reliable. A survey of gun ranges ranked Beretta and Sig as most reliable and Glock and Ruger as most durable. Even master gunsmith Bill Wilson considered Beretta the most reliable design made. It's really like choosing between a date with Emmy Rossum or Blake Lively.

go with the glock, beats the beretta in every catagory accept looks. Plus the gen 4's have interchangeable back straps which can help with the somewhat odd grip angle.
reliability = glock trigger reset = glock maintainence = glock accessories = glock

It happens but he made a blanket statement about the 92 in general. He also said 92's, which usually means more than one. Look, my preference is the Glock, but it's hard to knock the 92. I'm not a huge fan of DA/SA pistols for self defence for newbies. When you rag on the 92 in terms of reliability, that statement won't hold water.
