I have the opportunity to buy any Springfield Armory 1911 for a really good price and I cant decide what I want. I am on a budget so the guns out of the $800+ range are not possible. I was thinking one of these 3 LINKY, LINKY, LINKY but I am not sure. I don't know much about Springfield's 1911s. Any experts out there that can help me out??

Forgot to mention. I also can buy any XD/XDM in that price range as well if that is a better idea.

I'm on my phone, so I can't tell which 1911 the links are to. (no flashplayer)
Springfield makes good 1911s and I've had real good luck out of them. I have a loaded model that has had the hell shot out of it, and it still hasn't missed a beat. I'm on my second set of springs. I had some work done to it when I first got it but it wasn't necessary.

Go with Colt. It's the original and you don't have to worry about what you have.

I'd buy a full-sized 1911, and you can't go wrong with a Springfield.

Springfield for sure and I would go with the Mil Spec. Two reasons to chose it over the GI. First and foremost the lowerd ejection port. It is significantly lower as you can see in the pictures. This in my opinion makes a far more reliable weapon with fewer if any fail to eject issues. And secondly the full length guide rod and barrel. I met one individual at the gun range with a GI model and it would not feed Hornady Critical Defense. He told me it would not feed some hollow points as well. We compared the two pistols (GI & Mil Spec) and found that not only was the barrel different but so was the feed ramp. This may have been only one gun but it made me glad I had a Mil Spec. Save a few dollars more and get the Mil Spec.

I would go with the Springfield also! Had others but had problems and have had several springers also with problems but it was little ones that could be corrected by myself. Here is one of my current models it is the Range Officer and it shoots great!
