versatility. Shooting different calibers in both long and short configurations becomes a past time or hobby for most which in turn becomes collecting. Shooting the same gun for most could become less challenging over a period of time. The study of ballistics becomes quite fascinating for most of us which requires several calibers and guns to quench our desire to learn and experience.

I've always said that I just need a gun for each of the animals that I hunt. That said, I've accumulated 4 shotguns due to inheritances. I also just added a new animal to hunt - hogs have finally made it to our land, so I just bought an AK 47. The bolt action model 70 just didn't throw out enough lead fast enough. Other than when I inherit my FILs guns (and add 5 more shotguns), I'll probably never buy another gun.
