Leaving tomorrow night to head down to TX for some pork acquisition. Dad's got a pair of handheld 2-way radios and wants to bring them, but I figured it'd be a good idea to check first to make sure we'd be legal in using them. What say the good folks of THF?

Ya, you are fine I think unless on a US waterway that is not land locked. Hell, I don't know! Bring them and I will have a couple with me too that will work out well.

It's a requirement on our lease for safety. We always know where everyone is. It's just fine, been useing them for years.

That's a great idea...leaving one spare. We usually all have one, but leaving one in camp for others is a good idea...

here is a reason to carry cell phone with u all times and dont leave it in the truck... a fellow went hunting ... i think this happen around la grange.... for deer out at his lease... he told his wife he would be back in a couple of hours and didnt come back.. she called his phone no answer, so she called his brothers which told her he probly shot a deer and was cleaning it and if he didnt answer or call in an hour they would go check on him... well he didnt call so the brothers went to the ranch and found him.. he had fell out of his stand and broke his leg which the bone had broke and cut his main arturie and he crawled to his truck which was 50 yrds away and made it half way before bleeding to death...his phone was in the seat of his truck... if he would have had it he might be alive...
also make sure it cant fall out of your pocket!!!!! a good friend of the family this season who is in his 70s and hunted all his life went to the lease to hunt , slipped getting into stand and leg got caught and he was handing up side down... tryed to get his phone and relized it fell out of his pocket in his shirt when he slipped....he hung for quite a while until he finlly got his leg out and fell between the stand and the fence where he was apparently knocked out... his son found him later that evening and he was alive but had to spend about 3 days in the hopital for ant bites, torn knee ligiments and lost of cuts and bruises.......

Maybe I'm just dreaming this, but it seems like I once saw that it was illegal to use 2way's to hunt or drive deer with others. Not illegal to say you just killed one or talk with buddies, but just when using them to work together and push deer.
Anyone else ever heard this?
