I have been looking into buying a AR but there are so many makes & models to chose from & I don't know anything about these rifles. Would be using for varmint hunting and just plinking. Are there some better than others and are there anything to watch or stay away from? More worried about quality than price. Thanks for the help!

I hear Rock River Arms is one of the best.

I have a bushmaster varminter, is awesome as far as accuracy, it is set up for hunting and not combat looking. I have the original with a real long barrel, I would buy the 20" if I were to do it again. The gun comes ready to go with a two stage trigger and match grade heavy fluted barrel.

Yup, I finished building one yesterday for a buddy of mine. If ai can do it anyone can, plus the satisfaction factor is a lot higher building it yourself.

I have a Colt Target HBAR and sweet to shoot and very accurate. Building one would be fun to. but I like the Colt the best. IMO

The Colt or the Armalite (the originals). Love my Colt AR-15 Sporter with the .22LR conversion kit.

Rock River Arms or Bushmaster are my choice. If you have the money go with Colt!!!

IIRC- Remington's ar-15's are nothing more than re-branded Bushmasters.

A bush master is the way to go don't be fooled by the price hell you can slap a $100,000 pricetag on a hyndai but at the end of the day its still a hyndai. I work with these guns for a living and the Bushmaster is far superior in many aspects. 1st the bushmaster is has 59% less accuracy drop for every 30 meters out then the colt or armalite. Second the charging handle jams 89% less and the life of the weapon is about 1,199 rounds higher. Plus our bradley fighting vehicles use very large bushmasters.

Not trying to be a smart arse, but who told you that? And can you show us where you found it?
If that was the case, then the govt would use ONLY bushmasters for their guns. Those are huge claims and advantages over the said competition.
Everyone has a favorite brand of everything but one thing to keep in mind is that these guns all come from the same mold. As for 59% accuracy drop... first off I'm not really sure what you are trying to say here.... but if you buy a prefab gun with a cheap barrel on it, it will not shoot as good as one built with a Pac Nor. Apples to apples, I don't think there is much difference and would love to see some proof otherwise.

I've been wanting another AR. Since I shoot left handed I've been pondering one of these, Stag Arms has finally launched the worlds first TRUE left-handed AR. "TRUE"= Left-Handed Ejection Port, Ejection Port Door, Brass Deflector, Forward Assist, Ambi-Selector. and it's made from forged 7075 T6 Aircraft Quality Aluminum

I am left handed and have 3 AR 15's all right handed and never have had a problem.

I really don't think it would be a problem for me either as I've shot all sorts of right handed semi auto rifles and shotguns all of my life with no problems but I thought about giving one a try. I shot right handed bolt actions for a long time too until I bought my first LH bolt action. Now they are all LH bolts actions except for an Encore and a 700 in 25-06 that belonged to my Dad. Suggested retail on the lefty Stag is only $40 higher than the righty. Also if I buy one it will go to my lefty grandson some day

If price is no concern and you dont want to build your own(which I would suggest)....Colt is by far my number one. Armalite comes in second followed up by Rock River at a distant third. -coy
