I have a Weatherby Sub-MOA in 22-250 (24" bbl, 1 in 14" twist).
Previously, I was shooting factory Hornady 50gr V-Max with oustanding accuracy - 3 shot groups easily covered with a dime. That's pretty good for me.
I recently changed to Federal Premium 60 gr. Noslers and CAN'T get them to hit the same side of the paper in consecutive shots. I've been cleaning the barrel after every 3rd shot, with a "drying" round before trying to achieve groupings. 1st shot 11 o'clock 4" high, 2nd - 2 o'clock 4" high, 3rd shot 6 o'clock about 4" low.
I've been researching this and have stumbled upon a possible "stabilization" issue that may exost with this load in my particular rifle.
Does this seem like my problem or is there something else that I am missing?

My guess is the added weight and length of the Nosler bullet is not what that 1 in 14 inch twist likes.
To get that Nosler to shoot like you want it too, you would have to change the rate of twist in the barrel.
With most if not all bullets, as you change brands of bullet and add weight, it also adds length.
Longer bullets require a different rate of twist, and it has more to do with the length of the bullet than the weight. JMO.

I've been shooting the 70 grain Speer bullet for a long long time in my 22-250 Remington 700 with the 1-14 twist. I consistantly get sub 1 inch 3 shot groups with that bullet. I think you will have to get the velocity up to a little over 3,000 fps to get 60 grain Nosler to stabilize. I'm not sure that will be possible and still maintain a safe pressure level. I'm really pushing the envelope with my 70 grain Speer load.
Please let me know if you can get the Nosler to stabilize. I've been thinking about going to the 60 grain Nosler Partition when I run out of the Speer bullets.

I shoot the hornadys in 55 and can put them in tight, I tried the federals in a trophy bonded bear claw and they suck for accuracy. I quickly swithced back

The standard 1-14 twist is borderline to stabilize the heavier bullets. It's a bit like throwing a tight spiral with a football....if enough spin isn't imparted to the ball, the quarterback ends up throwing a duck. Try increasing the velocity of your load (if you can stay within safe, published data parameters). Or try a different bullet. Guns are individuals and my 1-14 Ruger shoots the 63 gr Sierras just fine with a hot load but is indifferent to some of the 60 grainers. FYI, my gun loves 50 gr Nosler BTs! The benchrest crowd will re-barrel to a faster twist--1-9 or 1-10--if they want to shoot the heavier bullets, but that can get costly.

I have been doing alot of r&d with the 22-250 this past year. And any 22-250 loads with the 60 grain partition will come out at way over 3000 fps. that is standard! to get it to shoot right is another thing. i have tried it and got very good results. sub inch at 100. the problem fowlplayr might be facing is the same problem i had, and it took alot of time and research. my other friends who shoot 22-250's some had the same luck with 60 grain partitions and some had bad luck. when i started using my 22-250 for deer, i wanted to really use barnes x bullets. i have had alot of luck with those in my bigger guns. i tried there 45 grains, 53 grains, i loaded each with different powders you name it! different cases, primers and had the same problem that you have. after speaking to a well known gunsmith here in texas basically he told me that no matter what i did or tried my rifle just did not like barnes bullets! and for it to shoot right i probably would have to put another barrel in, that is when i tried noslers. but there is still hope. i know federal loads them and you can also find them at blackhills ammunition if they are still loading them. anyways hope this helps some before you spend all the time we have. if you have any questions you can contact me, i have been really shooting alot of loads for this caliber because it is now my to go to gun for texas whitetails.

Thanks to all for the input.
With that info in hand now, I have 3 brand new boxes of Federal 60 grain Nosler Partitions that I have no use for. Bought them Monday afternoon at Cabelas (still in the bag with the reciept). Paid $29.99/box.
If anyone in the Flower Mound/Lewisville area has a use for them, PM me and make an offer.

What CHC said also. The 223 shoots the heavy .224's really well with its fast twist rate of 1-9". I've had alot of trouble getting anything over 60grs to shoot in the 25o.

I've been wanting one of the 224 TTH (Texas Trophy Hunters) its built with a fast twist but will also shoot varmint bulletts really well. I believe its built of the 6MM rem case.

The 224 tth is made from the 6mm case! If you need any info hill country rifle company in New braunfels tx. was rebarrelling rifles for it. They had alot of info on it, and load info. But the last time i spoke to them, the little 224tth fad was going away. Just kind of hard to laod unless you are a pretty good handloader. They personally would rather go with a 22-250 improve or a hot rodded 220 swift.

Take them back and get credit or trade them for something else. If the it's a full box and looks new, there shouldn't be a problem. I took some 7mm Mags back a buddy had bought for me instead of the 7mm08 I asked him to get.
Good Luck and Good Hunting.
