Anyone know/or have a book to see how many pre 64 Winchester Model 70's were made in .243? I'm looking at purchasing a featherweight made in 1956 and was wondering how many were made in that caliber. Thanks.

Roger Rule's book "The Rifleman's Rifle" shows 24,707 .243 Featherweights produced, making it the third most common of that style(behind the .308 and .30-06). Interestingly, only 6812 Standard grade rifles were chambered in .243-making it the 5th RAREST of that style.
In the market .243s do not bring much,if any,of a premium.

I learned long ago you can't reason someone out of something they don't reason themselves into.

Thanks Nogalus, that's what I was needing to know. I was hoping they made less of them than that. Looks like they made a bunch of featherweights!
