 took him at 180yrds with my Rem. model 700 SPS.308 with 150g matchkings loaded at 46 grains of varget. Hit him right in the shoulder. And yes I hunted in flip flops and board shorts in my blind.... Its south Texas...

thanks guys he was a little young but his body was huge I couldnt tell at all.

When did you take him and where do you hunt near freer?
Was just down there this past weekend and saw only a doe, didn't shoot her. The bigger bucks were just not moving.
The place I hunt is off 44 and co rd 332 on the way San Diego. I got a nice big bodied 8 last year, old buck right in the throws of the rut, was a 5x3 and should have been a 10. Was my first buck and couldn't have been happier about it!

We had dcent sized buck roll through on the cam 2 weeks ago Thursday, but that was the day it got below freezing. Even though I have hunted some days when it was warmer, if it is warm enough for shorts, it is warm enough for snakes, and I would wear boots and not flip flops...you still gotta walk to and from the ATV or stand.
No harm no foul, but we did huge blue indigo snake one year, nearly as long as the county road is wide, and if he was out, we knew rattlers would be out. They like the nice sunny days like your picture showed.

Be safe and good hunting! Been going there for 12 years only seen 3 rattlers I keep a good eye for them but not worried about them all to much + that road is a oil field road so its about 30yrds wide
