considering trading n my ridgeline in on a 2006 nissan Titan LE 4x4 with 106000 miles...

I have been eyeing the tundra for a long time, but really want a reliable 4x4 for hunting out of and hauling a camper on occasion-this will not be a daily driver. So I am wondering what your experience has been with the Titan at 100k miles and over.

Thanks

Dave

I've got a 2004 Titan with 88,000 miles. My son also has a 2004 Titan with 132,000 miles. Both were bought new in 2004. Engine and transmission in both are still awesome!

Have had minor stuff like fuel pump and radiator replacement! I've owned two other trucks prior to buying the Titan and they don't compare with the Titan!

Was on a hunt in Illinois last week, and one of the guys from Michigan has a 2006 he bought new and used in his business; the truck has over 200,000 miles on it and still going strong!

But like any used vehicle....you just never know what to expect!

You will have a very difficult time finding a truck with more reliability than the toyota tundra.

Dave, that Titan will pull or haul just about anything you want. I have had a 04 and 05 they were both great trucks just don't plan on getting any gas mileage out of it.

My ridgeline gets about 16 mpg the way I drive it. And I only plan to run the thing 2 or 3 months out of the year. Then maybe once a month for the other 9. Gonna use it mostly for deer season and filling feeders and occasionally hauling a camper once or twice a year. My daily driver is a corolla...if my ridgeline had more ground clearance and towing power I'd just keep it but a bed full of corn (1500 lbs) plus a 5x8 trailer with another pallet of corn is a little too much for the honda to take...

Also, the titan I am looking at will cost me somewhere in the range of my ridgeline plus 5k...

I have a 2007 Titan and I love it, but like any truck they have their problems. The most common problems with them are the rear end, radiator, exhaust manifolds and rear shackles. The rear end develops axle seal leaks and the spider gears break. You can fix the spider gear problem by putting in a Tru Trac Locker. The 2008 and up Titans have a stronger rear end with 4 spider gears instead of 2 like on the 2004-2007. The radiator has a plastic bottom tank that cracks; you can purchase an aftermarket radiator from CSF that is all aluminum. The exhaust manifolds are covered up to 80,000 miles by Nissan, but after that it is cheaper to replace with aftermarket headers. JBA, Stillen, and Doug Thorley all make headers for the Titan. The rear shackles on 2004-2007 Titans can unwrap and shoot a leaf spring through the bed, you can buy the improved 2008 and up shackles for pretty cheap from the dealer. If you are towing heavy look for a Titan with the Big Tow Package it will have bigger rearview mirrors, a Trans Temp Gauge and 3.36 gears instead of the standard 2.94 Gears.

I have an 05 Titan I have had for 6 years. 130,000. I have replaced the radiator but that is all, and I am one of those people you should NEVER by a vehicle from, I am very abusive to my trucks. I replaced a 2001 3/4 ton Chevy with the Titan and I truly believe the Titan pulls my trailers better and safer than the Chevy. The cool thing about the Titan is it drives more like a sports car than a truck, loads of fun. Mine is an LE with the Big Tow package.

I have an '06 LE with the tow package. I love this truck. We use ours about like you describe. It isn't a daily driver, but is used to tow the boat, the camper, and for trips to the lease and other road trips. It is our adventure truck. Mine has 90k+ miles and has been very reliable. I just drove it Kansas and back and had a great trip. Like Suburbob, I USE this truck. It has spent a lot of time in 4wd, been axle deep in the sand on PINS while pulling the camper, pulled several others out of the sand, and the skid plates show the results of some love taps. There are scratches on all 6 sides of my Titan. My neighbor laughs when I wash this truck. There have been times where sand and three distinct types of mud from months worth of weekend trips have piled up in the driveway.

I put a PRG mini lift (2")on mine for a little more ground clearance and love the way it looks and performs. I also replaced the rear shackles. I did just learn one of my exhaust manifolds is cracked. It isn't really a problem yet, but I am shopping for aftermarket headers and learning about the details of getting that installed. Make sure the recall for the fuel gauge has been fixed.

i just bought a 2010 PRO 4x titan this year when i totalled my jeep. absolutely love the truck, but hate the gas milage. pulls great, tons of interior room, and the 4x4 is good...(mine has the locking rear diff, etc)

can't go wrong on these trucks.
