So I got the black rifle bug and seeing as how christmas was around the corner I thought I'd treat myself with somthing nice.

This is a palmetto state armory lower. Got it on their black Friday sale for $49, came out to $67 after shipping and transfer. It came in Monday, picked it up Tuesday.

This is a palmetto state armory chrome lined hammer forged fn made "machinegun steel" upper, A2 profile, mid-length gas system $449 still on sale I belive. Ordered one of their classic lower parts build kit with it. And it came out to right around $565 shipped

And the finished product with a daniel defense 1.5 fixed rear sight. Probably add an optic later, leaning towards the leupold vx-r but that's a ways on down the road, not really a fan of red dot sights.

Picked up 2 p-mags and 4 c products 20 round mags, all full and ready for the range and a four day weekend.

That is an A2 gas block, but the upper receiver is an A3. Do you know what the twist rate is on the barrel?

So what was the total price to do the build yourself?

Palmetto State Armory is killing it with the build kits prices right now, you can have a very good quality for under 700 and have the satisfaction of doing most of it yourself. I especially love the kits with the FN barrels they use on their uppers.

Oh, I meant the barrel profile is an A2 profile barrel. The twist is 1-7.

Nice! That will do well with the heavier bullets.

Complete upper+stripped lower+transfer+lower parts build kit+shipping was $618.93!! I don't think I could have got into somthing similar for less. The dd rear sight was $62.

I put together a palmetto state gun as well. It is a great shooter. I got 1-1.5" groups at 50 yards after I zeroed it with a red dot.

@smurf, for being my first time around an AR, PSA did me right! Your absolutley right about their quality for price. And the wait wasn't that bad for the magnatude of merchandise they moved, it took about 3 1/2 weeks and I'm super excited about it.

@Ryan F. I can't wait to get this FN barrel heated up!...but its raining and wet here, might have to take it to the indoor instead of the outdoor range which is kind of a bummer, only 25yds to play with.

i bought 2 of their lowers on the big sale to attempt my first build and i've had my eye on that exact upper you bought.

since ive got a carbine length already though middy might be fun.
the specs on their uppers look amazing for the price

I finally got my AR to the range and it ran pretty well. I will say that the m855 ammo that I picked up at Academy was very inaccurate(as advertised by manny people). It shot the federal 55gr fmjbt pretty well, I guestimate about 2moa groups 25yds with irons. I had one hiccup though. One round didn't feed all the way, I used the forward assist and afterwards she just hummed along. I'm planning on going again tomorrow and will try to snap some pics, todays was a short impromptu sessions to check function mainly and temporarily scratch the itch.

Nice. I'm asked Santa for PSA kit for Christmas.

They are killing the competition with their specs and prices.

I already have a Spikes....I'm dying to see how this compares for less money.

Like I've been saying, this is my first and was very happy. The fit and finish are really nice. I think you'll like what you see and for the price its hard to beat. I'm already planning my next build but can't decide between pistol or rifle in 18 or 20 in config.
