So I watch too many westerns and lately been wanting a lever action rifle, they are just an American icon to me. What's your favorite caliber and make for lever action, and why

Marlin 1894 in .357 or 44 magnum. That Marlin 1894 in 357 plus a Marlin 336 in 30-30. I haven't shot the 30-30 in 36 years but it was my first rifle so it's a favorite.

But who told me that never hunted where there are sharp rocks, mesquite trees, prickly pear, devils pincushions...... My feet would be cold also

I've played with them all. My favorite is my Marlin 1894 in 44 mag. It's an awesome gun!

At one point I was on a quest to own a Marlin Lever action in every caliber made. I ended up short but got pretty far in the quest. My favorite is the Marlin 1894 in 44mag. Love that rifle and now my 10yo daughter just took her first deer with it. Second would probably be Marlin 336 in 30-30. Have slowly traded or sold off the others. Still have a Marlin 1894ss in 45-70, but will be getting rid of it pretty soon. I will never sell or trade the 44mag or 30-30 though.

Winchester 94 back in 1962 was my first rifle I hunted deer with, but it belonged to my uncle, and never knew what happened to that rifle after he passed away.
Back in the mid seventies I bought my own Model 94 Winchester and still have it, and have taken many deer and other game with that rifle.
I don't use it that much anymore and I'm now trying to keep it looking as good as possible so I can pass it down to my grand son.

Currently it's my Savage 99 in .308. My favorite too! This is the first year in about 25 that I haven't shot something with it. As I've said many times it just says "take me" "take me" when I open the safe...... Have a brace of Marlins in 30.30, 35Rem, and 45-70. The 35Rem would probably be next in line followed closely by the 45-70.

The Winchester 94 Big Bore is my favorite. I guess my favorite caliber would be the 356 Winchester but you can usually find me with the 444 Marlin in my hand.

It's a toss up between my Model 71 in 348 or my Model 94 trapper in 45 colt. But, my pre 64 94 in 32wsp sure is sweet shooting, or maybe my........ Oh heck, I like all of them.
