What is the best way to prepare corn for a hog trap? Ive tried plain corn, corn with jello (strawberry and cherry), and Big red soaked corn. None are really better than the other. Any other ideas, recipies, or concauctions?

Ive done two things, sprinkle hog wild over the corn, and used a bottle that dripped fruit juice.

Ready Mix Cool Aid mixed in with corn and water. Let it sit for a day or two and get ready to shoot.

And I will strike down upon thee with vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know I am the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon you....

Make it as nasty as you possibly can and they will love it. I let the corn sit in water for about a month, it works great.

The coon [censored] that taught me a lot always mixed the skunkiest beer he could find. Diesel does actually work to discourage raccoons, deer and rats. Just mist the corn with a spray bottle and mix it around - doesn't take much. Supposedly they like to roll in diesel, but I haven't seen that.

All in all, I think whatever you want to use and doesn't gum up your feeder/tube too bad will work just fine.

Try sweet feed bought at any feed store. I have used it for a few years and have had great results.

I have filled many pig pipes with many different things. They tear the sweet feed pipe to splinters. It is always the first they hit.

up

x2 on the sweet feed or mule feed. Once they get a couple of feeds off it they go crazy when ever they smell it. Only times I have had hogs get defensive of a feeder or bait hole was when they were getting sweet feed out of it.

I have two little girls; which means if GI Joe ever got to take a vacation he should come to my house...Ahhh, Estrogen Land! Where lonely barbies abound without a single man in site.

Works every time! That's my way to attract pigs. I've even soured some Taters; that works too.

Yes TS has it. Ask for either sweet feed or COB it's around $7.00. Crushed corn, oats and barley with molases added. Good stuff.

Unlike corn in the pipe that just falls out when hit, sweet feed is sticky and they have to work at getting it out. I have some videos somewhere I will try to post. It gets real good when a few of them are after the pipe.

The Deisel and corn does work!!! You wont have to worry about trapping coons, deer, calfs they wont touch it but the pigs will!!! I've even hung towels soaked in it around the base of trees and the hogs will rub the trunk bare tryin to get it on them.. It WORKS!! Good Luck!

Some people say they don't want to do that because the hog digesting the diesel and it being in the meat?? What do yall think about that?

Hey BuckMaster I only use a very small amount of Deisel on my corn..I dont soak it for days like in making sour mesh.. Here in East Tx theres alot of oil wells and on the leases where the old Rod Pumps wells leak the hog sign is everywhere..so I know the oil base products works and I understand the idea of it being in the Meat... but the amount I use is not going to hurt the meat..I cant Taste ANYTHING but BBQ sauce!!! LOL

I'm of the same opinion. I mist the corn with a few squirts from a garden spray bottle. The total volume of diesel that I use for a bag of corn is maybe a couple of tablespoons.

Every pig I've ever eaten was probably wallowing in and chugging down a lot worse stuff than diesel.

One 55 gallon drum will hold about 6 bags or 300 lbs of feed. I used to mix 4 bags of corn, 2 bags of sweet feed, and one bag of hog wild. Mix it up real good. It would flow through my feeder well like this and the hogs and deer both couldn't resist it. Give it a shot...
