I had to get my fix during the split, so Iwent over to see Matt yesterday and got to see this bird in person....It's just unbelievable what he does with a dang Woodie! He emailed me these pics at work today...(He did say that if I posted this that he is still too full to take any new birds right now.) Here is a pic of the birds in his "drying room" as well.I dig looking at all the ducks in a group like this. He also had another seven or so that he was working on in his shop out back that were very kewl.

Beautiful!! Wood ducks are the gem of the river bottoms.
I learned long ago you can't reason someone out of something they don't reason themselves into.

His standing birds are just about flawless and usaully look awesome. On the other hand I have never really liked his flying duck mounts. They always seem to look a little off or out of sorts. Especially his geese and mallards.

Especially his geese and mallards. I don't think any Taxi can capture that. I've looked at the ones that post here and others in diff forums, but none seem to capture that "look", except a few that I've seen with the wings cupped and gear down

I'd ask him if he's pregnant. He missed a s__tload of periods. I'll take "things that look like a uterus" for $200 Alex.

Looks like this man has the "digging for air" pose down but I personally do not prefer it because it appears awkward to me. Landing poses are much better IMO. Many taxis don't know how to position the head with in-flight mounts and it ruins them.
I had a fine taxidermist tell me once that an "action" pose with ANY animal is one you will quickly tire of and "resting" poses are much more natural and you will enjoy them every time you look at them. I believe that wholeheartedly.
I learned long ago you can't reason someone out of something they don't reason themselves into.

That might just be my woodie! This is almost exactly what Matt and I discussed. If so, I couldn't be happier.
