I doubt the deer was completly healthy. Just nature taken its course and yotes doing what God made them do. Doesn't make me hate them.

Not based on the pic's i saw over 200 pic's looked like a very healthy deer. They attacked for over 2 hours got him in the rear first then circled and ran him until he gave out he actually laid down at one point and then got back up and fought them until he gave completely out through a rain storm

Where's the TCU Txkiller when you need him? Thy right there is the reason I'll always interrupt a deer hunt with coyote control.

I saw the whole set of pictures as well. The deer looked messed up from the very first picture. If this deer was healthy why didnt it run off and not stay in just one spot?

Nice buck but I am with the guys who said there must have been something up with that buck. I do not believe a buck like that could ever be taken down by two coyotes if it was 100% healthy and I don't think two coyotes would even think about attacking that deer if it was totally healthy. Most predators kill the weak, sick, very young or old. I bet this buck had to fit one of those categories. That all said, I have read studies on coyotes and there numbers are controlled by their food source more than anything. Killing them is more about making you feel good. As long as there is ample food (mainly rabbits and mice) there numbers will grow. They will breed earlier, more often, and have bigger litters when there is plenty of food. When that source dries up their numbers will decline. Killing them only leves more food for those left behind thus resulting in more offspring. Its like your damned if you do and damned if you don't.

We killed four on our place day before yesterday. We are getting ready to have our ranch flown for hogs and coyotes. Won't wipe them out but it'll put a dent in them for a while.

I saw the full set as well. From the beginning it looked like he was cut up, but also his mouth was hanging open. Perhaps he was winded ,and chose that particular spot to make a stand? With the bad drought ,and all do you guys not think yotes would go for bigger game?

I watched the slide show. The deer didn't look healthy in any of the pictures. Looked like it had road rash or maybe some sort of fungal infection. I find it highly unlikely that 2 coyotes could bring down a healthy buck.

A couple weeks ago I was took a hunter out for a pig hunt. We were watching a young 9 pointer at the feeder when we saw 2 coyotes running down the sender towards the buck. We watched them corner the deer then try to attack it. Jared got 1 coyote but his partner got away. A couple days later I was sitting in the same blind and saw the same thing happen but the coyote was after a younger doe. The hunter I was guiding missed the coyote. I have never seen them try to attack an animal like that. They must be hungry.
