I have a winchester 94 saddle ring carbine made in 1925 but the saddle ring is not located in the traditional position.
1.Is it a real saddle ring carbine ?
2.Is there any reason why the ring would be located in an alternate position ?

instead of the usual location at the rear the ring is higher up and more toward the middle but the big screw remains in the standard position ...

I thought maybe a serial number ID would reveal whether or not it was the real deal cause there are several hundred dollars diff...
