Well after a few months of planning and discussing we hope to break ground on the new Quail farm within a month or so! I'm super excited about getting back into the quail raising business. I will keep ya'll informed with pics as the operation begins.

We have a 10/15 NSTRA trial in Katy. Think you'll be up and running by then?

I sure hope so but it will be close! I would love to help out and be a supplier of some of these NSTRA trials. I'll keep you informed.

Great! Too far for me, but good luck. They will be needed for the late preserve/trial season, but you better hurry, they need to be 16 weeks old to fly really well. My suppliers start their first batches in early June and add to them at the first of July and August.

We are located right outside of Brenham. This year we will be getting everything set up and built, so I dont know if we will have any birds available before Jan 1st. We do hope for some birds to be ready after Jan. 1st so we can catch the late season. Thats what we are shooting for.

Sorry it took so long to get back you all on our project. I told ya'll I would keep you informed on how things were progressing with the Quail Covey Run quail farm. I'm proud to say ground has been broken and we are moving right along. It took a little longer than we thought getting everything together, but we are making steps now in the right direction! Our website is up,(www.quailcoveyrun.com) but we are still making some changes. Feel free to check it out! I will keep ya'll informed as we go along.

What are the requirements from TexasParks and Wildlife to raise Quail? Is there a permitting process?

Yes you do have to have a permit. How many birds you raise determines how much you pay for the permit. I don't know the figures off the top of my head.
