Are you using a rechargeable 6 volt battery..I had used a regular Duracell lantern battery one time and it wouldn't spin using the test button..Then I put in a rechargeable and it has been working ever since..

I have a couple of those timers. Is it the one with one round button surrounded by 4 directional buttons? If so, I figured out a trick to them. Sometimes when you connect a new battery to them, they will kinda freak out and look like they're shorted out or somethin. If you notice on the hot wire coming out of it, there's an in-line fuse. Well, one of the wires coming out of the in-line fuse has a spring on it allowing you to sever the connection. Pull the springed-wire, disconnect the batter, then while still having the springed-wire disconnected, reconnect the battery and then release the springed-wire, allowing the fuse to take the charge rather than the timer. I dunno why it matters, but I found this out while replacing the batteries in a couple feeders opening weekend of rifle season. Those timers freak out when you slap a fully charged batter on em for some reason.

order a motor from texas hunter products and be done with it. You will have it in a couple days, sometimes just 1 day. I had my experiences with cheap timers, they aren't worth it, especially when you get to your lease and find out your feeder hasn't been working for a couple weeks.

Cheap=Problems.......Go invest in a Monarch timer and you will never have to worry about that happening. I have had three of their timers for over ten years never a single issue.

For all this trouble you can't drop $70 at Academy for a cheap feeder to get you through the season?

good choice with the blade terminal battery! I truly HATE the standard lantern battery terminals because I have sat in a blind once too often wondering why my feeder didn't go off only to find later that a connection had at some time vibrated loose, mad never had that problem with the blade terminals. they cost a little more but are damn well worth it. texas

Danny 871 has the answer you are looking for. chunk the cheap crap!!! remember why your putting the thing up in the first place. to see deer every time you go out. get the Monarch feeder. you will never have a problem.... and put a varmint cage on it as well as a solar panel. and yes get the 12 volt.... it throws the corn further and it takes the deer longer to find it all. you will not save A DIME buying the cheap crap. you will buy 10 of them and work on them every year. then you will say what kind of feeder did that guy tell me to get...... hahahaah
