I see a lot of you are posting about Kansas. If you are planning a trip in Dec you may want to look at SD. It is further but worth the extra miles if you only make one or two trips a year. We hunted in Pierre, SD area in late Oct and saw a ton of birds. 4 guys shot about 80 birds between sharptails, chickens, and pheasants. We hunted 5 days and hunted on private ground. Knock on doors and some will let you hunt for free and others will charge you cash around $50 to $100/day per gun (we never pay more than $75/day). The Ft. Pierre Motel is a great place to stay, cheap, clean and very friendly! There were two different groups in the same hotel we talked to that did very well road hunting and hunting WIA.
Good luck Gentlemen!

I hunt just north of you in Walworth County, SD. I cannot comment on Kansas hunting but SD is top notch.

Ive hunted in Vivian south of Pierre and the hunting was awesome. We hunted with Medicine Creek. We killed our limits of pheasant in the morning and had a blast shooting prairie dogs in the evening.
